Reusing SYE shaft after catastrophic chain failure

Purchased a project TJ, that had the chain break in the transfer case while the PO was driving.
It has a SYE kit installed and a rear CV driveshaft.
I have the case out and torn down to the point I have the output shaft out.
It looks a little heat hardened on the bearing surfaces but I'm not sure what it should look like.

Any one have an opinion on whether to reuse or not?

I'm going to guess the consensus will be to purchase a new kit, but just checking to see if anyone has reused a t-case output shaft in a similar situation and their experience.

The shaft didn't cause the failure.

Would you change the shaft if it was a normal one? Or just the chain? Do the gears look good? Unless you are changing everything else i would not worry about the shaft.

Man that sucks but you know what I thought my clunking a couple months ago was the chain so I bought a new one and then inspected a told me it was the tranny mount, replaced it and worked for the most part but I still have the chain laying around I could sell to u it's for the np231

I fully knew about the T-case before I purchased the jeep and had a used replacement at the house before the jeep transaction was made.

The more I think about the way the TJ operates, I don't see a tremendous amount of movement on the bearing surface that I'm concerned with.
This is where the drive sprocket sits and with the front driveshaft always turning, it should be "close" in RPM's to the main shaft.
I might try to polish the surfaces slightly with some crocus cloth and see if it cleans up somewhat.

The front bearing surfaces that rides in the roller bearing in the sun gear looks fine, and the rear bearing surface isn't galled and rides in the output shaft bearing so no movement is expected there.

I'll have to find a replacement output shaft seal and bearing.

Thanks for the offer!
I need to open the replacement T-case and take a look to see what condition it's in and see what is needed to freshen it up.
I'll shoot a PM your way this evening if I get a chance to take a look inside tonight.

No problem. Sounds good I can give it off for cheap, just been sitting under my bed
