Rock slider advice

I’m looking to get a pair of rock sliders ( with a step) I found this pair that I like the looks of

however I thought the ones and tied into the body mounts were stronger. Just wanted to hear everyone’s inputs on the best ones. Thanks.

Ones that mount to body will be stronger than ones that mount to the frame in any way. Depending on your wheeling, pretty much any slider might work. Unless you anticipate actually using your sliders off-road, get what fits your step needs.

I will actually use them off-road. Going on trails all the way up to NC next year.

I would get something that mounts to the body and not the frame then. Savvy and Genright are good options.

I like the savvy I’ll look more into those. Do you think the ones I sent would be alright? They do appear to mount to the body.

It depends on how hard you plan to hit them. I would say that most TJ owners would get by fine with most rock sliders on the market, but that obviously depends on how hard they get hit.

I went with the Savvy’s because I knew they would be able to take any abuse I put them through and also think they look pretty good. I haven’t ever hit my sliders hard enough to warrant getting the Savvy’s, but I also don’t wheel very often or typically in large rocks.

This is from the instructions. I don’t think that’s too the body mounts. Not sure tho.

I think you'll find that the Savvy sliders are probably the most thought out and well liked design. GenRight is a good option too, but I would highly suggest using the Savvy sliders if you actually want to use them in the rocks.

You could be right, but those slots make me suspicious. Usually there are big cut outs that fit around the body mount. Because they are not there, that either means the sliders attach to them or the underside doesn't extend very far underneath the body. Neither option is good.

Well, my top vote goes to Savvy because I know who designed them, I know how they work first hand, and there's a reason they are so wildly popular. Not to say there might not be others out there that will work, I'm just going to recommend what I know works and works well.

Savvy tub mounted slider vote here too, had it on two TJs and they are tough and very well designed.

They're there to protect the body, so why not mount them to what they're there to protect?

Mounting to the frame cantilevers them out the distance the tub overhangs the frame rails. That's a lot of leverage to withstand, and with a hard enough bang they just bend up into the tub and to exactly what they were installed to avoid.
