I figured I would let someone else state the obvious.

The short answer is yes, install an SYE and run a double cardan style rear shaft. An explanation on this can be found by watching this video .

Also, you don't need to install the SYE before measuring for the right length drive shaft. Measure and follow the instructions shown in the photo below.

That is true. A JB or Teraflex super short SYE uses different math. They shorten up the output of the transfer case an additional 3" which means you would measure as shown in the photo, add/subtract nothing, and that's your post SYE drive shaft length. We've left that out of the text in the photo because sometimes too much information can confuse people and most people install a standard SYE.

I went with Adams drive shafts front and rear. Installed a Advance Adapters SYE. Was easy to do myself. Just gave Adams the measurements they needed and they got me a drive shaft pretty quick. Got rid of the pan drop. What a difference !!!

I got my jeep back from the shop after an alignment and was told to consider getting an sye kit. This is where my rear driveshaft currently is after the alignment. Should I also get a longer driveshaft? Any recommendations? It has a 4 inch lift and adjustable control arms and track bars.

If you dont put an sye on, this will happen to your tranny when the u joint blows from a bad angle. The u joint failed and my driveshaft came out and bent the muffler, and Literatly cracked my tranny in half. This was around 2 years ago when i was trying to push back on me putting my sye in and it blew while driving.

Wow that's crazy. I just took my driveshaft out until I get it all replaced. Going to drive in 4 hi

Get it. Got 3" spring lift installed on my TJ and immediately, the following week, I installed a SYE and Woody's driveshaft. Jeep drives almost smoother than my JKU.

I measured it out and gotten 22.5 but took off 3" based on Tom woods site. Does that sound about right?

The way to do it is install the JB SS SYE first. Then you take your measurement and send it to Adams or Tom Wood. They will ship the shaft to you in 2-3 days.

Most with a 4” lift are somewhere around 19”.
