Should there be a centering spring for B&M shifter?

Take the tower shifter off and open it up to inspect it. One of the two plastic bushings might be worn out.

Guys, I opened up the shift tower on my NV3550, w/B&M shifter. I see there are two springs, one on either side of shifter, in the tower. This fact does not agree with B&M rep that said there are no springs, hmmm. They are intact and with shft toweroff, shifter springs back to center nicely. The single plastic bushing on bottom of shifter, that fits into trans slot appears fine, no apparent wear. There is no excessive play in shifting action when assembled, if feels nicely smooth. I've felt spring action in 2 TJs recently so I know mine is not correct. I'm not willing to pull the trans. Any other suggestions please?

On the NV3550, if the bushings in the shifter tower are missing or worn down the shifter will be floppy. Check out the thread I made a while ago, it has a video. On the AX15 the centering mechanism is in the trans, right below the shifter tower. I am 90% sure of that because I have a spare AX15 in my garage at the moment.
