We were up in Canada last June bear hunting. We drove our motorhome up there. We heard if you go 20 over the speed limit they take your vehicle for a week. True? We were out of Vanderhoff.

I watched a kid on a sport bike, following an RV thru a school zone, crack the throttle, pass the RV, radar. Impound, licence gone, walking.... he had Saskatchewan plates. We have no bus service. How fast do you get on a sport bike when you crack the throttle Chris?
My neighbour same thing. Speeding in the Slocan Valley. 80 miles from home. NO cell coverage. 10pm. He walked 5 miles to find a phone and call for a ride.

We went to Whistler 2 weeks ago. I saw two speed traps where the cops had 5-6 cars pulled over. It looked like a fishing net had been thrown over the fast lane.
4 things BC cops are focusing on this year.... Distracted driving is #1. Window tint #2 since it blocks their vision of you on an electronic device. #3 Excessive speeding, AND due to public pressure, #4 loud exhaust. Mostly focused on Bikers, the biggest offenders of modifying the exhaust.

I must say I was impressed with the speed most people were driving (in BC). On I-5 in Oregon and Washington, BC plated cars love to drive slowly in the left lane. We have plenty of Oregon and Washington folks that do that too.
That said, I've driven in Washington and seen zero tolerance on speeding. I got a ticket for doing 65mph in a 60 zone. Never get that in Canada. And in Wyoming, on an Interstate with NO traffic, I got a ticket for 78mph in a 75mph zone. We've had USA friends in our car comment. "Don't you have highway patrol here...." and no we do not. Our local, national RCMP have much better things to do. Ive never had a ticket in Canada unless I was at least 15mph over the limit. I often get an approaching ghost car turn on the flashers to warn me, and continue on.
Whistler is a special case. Tons of accidents. Lots of retarded speeders. Sort of like speeding thru a school zone during track day when 15 schools are in attendance, Whistler, the Sea to Sky highway is third world driving in tourist season.

Interesting, I drive a lot on I-5 and you are safe (maybe only if you have US plates) in Oregon and Washington going 9 mph or less over.
BC is just starting to clamp down on that.

Passive and more friendly but backed up with significant fines if you think your job is to block speeders.
We have that here too, mostly old people in Prius-es.
I have a rule when driving, if you're in a Prius I assume you're a slow driving socialist, and I will absolutely pass you on the right because I'm not going to wait and see if you'll move over. Occasionally when I see an aggressive Prius or Nissan Leaf driver, I am pleasantly impressed that one or two of them exist.
I too have driven I-5, I have never seen traffic anywhere near the speed limit. I think you guys have worse grid lock than LA.... or Delhi.
I've lived in San Francisco, LA, Seattle, and not too far from Portland. I prefer driving in LA (except the 405, it is death), and IMHO I'd rate the worst traffic - Portland, Seattle, SF, and LA in that order. At least in LA there are options, but you are trapped by the water in the other spots.

Wow! They just leave you standing on the side of the Hwy when they take your vehicle? I was never so glad to get back to the good old U.S. of A. When I came out of Canada. I felt like I had just left Mexico.
There is no law to say you cannot pass on the right. I agree. If I am closing on you and you are not moving over, I signal, move right, pass. I don't even lift off the throttle.
