Spraying your control arm bushing with WD-40

Im beginning to regret asking the damn question, :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

In all fairness to you, as long as you know it's not a lubricant, you're good. However, I am guilty of using it to track down a squeak or two or seven. I will typically spray just a little, one part at a time. When the squeak goes away, I've found the culprit and I diagnose / fix from there. I used this method to track down my driveshaft's ultra dry DC joint about a year ago. Take everything for what it's worth here.

Proceed with caution

I've definitely had my clothes stained from WD-40. (non-silk though)

Yea, I have my doubts which is why I'm gonna try it on scrap. Silk is weird to start with. I teach that the best cure is an ounce of prevention and how to avoid getting lipstick on a veil in the first place. I've yet to have it happen to me, but I've seen my share of lipstick ruined veils.

well, I just came across this tidbit, LOL

Those arms are intended to twist at that connection.

Ok? cool, do you guys recommend any particular brand of control arm? which brands are better, Im going to have to replace these things, I'm sure they are at least 15 years old. Probably should replace the springs and bump stops while Im at it??

Arms with Johnny Joints on both ends are quite good.

What is wrong with the springs and bump stops?

I just looked, the bump stops are completely dried out. I should have taken a picture, they are cracked and in terrible shape. The springs are just old. I should have changed all of it when I replaced the shocks, but, being inexperienced I wasn't smart enough to do the whole job. guess thats my next project, LOL

The springs are fine if they provide the desired ride height. If you change them, you run the real possibility of changing the ride height which can snow ball into control arm and steering adjustments and potentially new shocks. Just be aware of that.

Also understand that the advertised ride height for a spring may or may not be what actually happens on your Jeep. No one selling springs knows what your Jeep weighs.

I'll post pictures tomorrow,. we were on a couple gnarly trails the last few days, and we were alone, so if I got in a jam, my wife would be freaking out. Just what I need, get in a jam and have to listen to the boss whining about being in a jam LOL
