Steering Stop Bolt Size

With the wider tires installed I needed to adjust the steering stop bolts. Rather than just adding washers though I decided to replace them. I expected to find metric but to my suprise they were 9/16 head, 3/8 - 24 threads. Anyone else have or notice this?

Dont know the head size but that's the correct diameter and thread pitch

Why not SAE instead of Metric? That said, a normal grade 8 3/8-24 bolt can be problematic if you don't round the head over so that the corners don't hit the stop pad on the inner C. The bolt can and will bend if that happens under load. The stock steering stop bolt has a domed head just for that reason.

Why not SAE instead of Metric?

No real reason just that everything else under there that I've touched so far is either torx or metric so I guess in a spirit of inclusiveness I should welcome the SAE to the party. Although now that I think about it, it was claiming to be a 14MM M10-1.0 but it didn't look quite right.
