I have a 4 speaker setup (polk), a 4 channel amp, and a new headunit. Do I tune the amp to this current setup before installing a powered sub? I am not the least bit audio savvy

Getting the high pass filter and low pass filter set once you get the sub installed makes a huge impact. I wish someone told me that years ago.

Tune your mids/highs first, then subwoofer after. Without any equipment, I’ve always done it this way: turn the headunit to about 3/4 volume(ex; mine goes to 45, I tuned at 35 and occasionally listen at 40 on certain songs) then while playing a variety of songs adjust the gain and HPF. I turn my HPF all the way up and then adjust it through the headunit(usually 100-120hz). If you have any signs of distortion or clipping, back the gain down on the amp until it goes away. I like to listen to a couple different genres of music while doing this to make sure I won’t have any issues and can normally get it tuned within a few songs. Don’t try to get all the bass possible out of the Polks. That’s where your subwoofer will come in and let me tell you, our little TJ’s make the biggest difference in sound quality with a little bass. You’ll be very happy with the sound once you have a sub installed.

New question.

Powered sub is in (sound ordnance 8ptd). I have power. Grounded to the tub. The power light will light up only momentarily when switching to remote power via the power mode switch. Any idea? The in line fuse is good, the other fuse at the sub is good too

Give me some more info on this power mode switch. A picture may help. Connect the blue remote turn on wire to the blue off the headunit wiring harness. Shouldn’t have to flip any switch to turn it on/off. It should come on/off with the key.

The blue REM wire is tied into a blue/yellow wire at the back of the headunit that was labeled REMOTE CONT. When this switch on the back is turned to remote switch, the power light comes on then will fade off. Otherwise the sub has no power. My test light is showing that it is in fact receiving power

I remember mine doing something surprising too, looking at it though in mine I can’t recall. Can you get a picture the wiring on the amp?

Edit: what’s the voltage reading on the remote line on the sub with the key to ACC/ignition?

Had the wrong wire. Sub has power and sound, but its peer bass, my other speakers are now not functioning...

Late to the thread but your sub is working but all four speakers are no longer working? My guess is the blue REM wire, check that connection, and make sure it is going to both amps.

👍 I realized I had disconnected the 4 channel amp. I'm all good now 🤘

Where did you mount the sub?
Free floating behind the driver seat at the moment. I'm headed out of town early in the morning and wanted it set up for the trip. When I return I'll either permanently mount it there or in the center console
