PLEASE HELP

I’ve had an mis wiring issue randomly show up for the stereo only. I had a soft top (Best Top) on and hit a bump and the stereo said mis-wire and cut out last summer. I changed head unit and still same issue. It was dead for a few months.

I got a factory hardtop and sometime after install the stereo kicked back on. I switched the head unit back, added a sub and amp bypass, everything worked fine all winter.

I put the soft top on today and the radio suddenly said mis wire again. I suspect it’s something with the sound bar since that’s the only area that changed. Obviously one solution is go back to a hard top for summer but I really want to use the soft top.

Has anyone experienced this or have tips? I’m lost over here.

Have you looked over the wiring diagrams in the Factory Service Manuals located in the resources section. I'd verify wire colors match with the radio harness colors and verify the sound bar speakers have the right polarity.

I did. that was the first step when I replaced the head unit. Also as it worked for months I knew the wiring was right.

I have solved this. Since the issue resurfaced when the soft-top went on I started checking the sound bar wiring and it turns out the bracket for the soft top was screwed through the speaker wires running up the left roll cage post. I wrapped the wires and reset the bracket and it is fixed. I would not have found this without the soft top triggering the malfunction.
