To be fair, my Jeep's manufacture date is closer to the 80s than it is to today.Do you also have a holder for your flip phone lol? That radio looks straight out of the 80's

80's? I was rocking a "bag phone" back then. But flip phones don't need holders!Do you also have a holder for your flip phone lol? That radio looks straight out of the 80's
Yes you do bro. Depending on the year of your jeep they got JL makes stealth boxes. If you don't mind giving up the cargo space they got boxes for that, but if you don't want all that bass they do sell center consoles with woofers in them. And depending on wh@t speakers you get you probably won't need an amp.If I'm not installing a subwoofer, do you think I still need an amp? I just plan on replacing the stereo, front speakers, and soundbar speakers. I don't have any place to put a woofer.
I run that head unit. Overall it has treated me well. Bluetooth get's a little funky sometimes but I believe that is my phone's issue. Running bluetooth on head unit, inreach, and aprs may have something to due with it as well.I'm looking to upgrade as well and rather than start a new thread I thought I'd ask for advice here.
Are Sony head units any good? Any reason to avoid?

I'm also looking at Alpine, Kenwood and JVC
Are 6.5 inch speakers noticeably better than 5.25 in the soundbar?
No it should just slot in...It’s a straight forward coax plug. With a new head unit, am I going to need an antenna adapter?
Wiring harness yes the antenna no.Yes, and a wiring harness adapter.
they are all much of a muchness when buying the big brands. Kedwood have greater emphasis on sound quality than apps and things. If you can stretch a little this one in pic is pretty much universally acknowledged as one of the very best single din and still available.I run that head unit. Overall it has treated me well. One complaint is I don't think there is a microphone input on the unit. However bluetooth calls in a Jeep are a bit rough to begin with.
@HoosierRich did you put anything behind the dash speakers like some kind of enclosure? Did you get some filler/fluffy/pillow stuffing like substance in there? Thanks
