Swing out tire carrier

Does anyone make a swing out tire carrier that mounts to the stock bumper?
My TJ tailgate has been converted to swing down, so now I have nowhere for the spare tire. Don't really want to replace the entire bumper as there's nothing wrong with it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The stock bumper would never hold up to supporting a spare tire plus the swing arm...way too flimsy. They used to make a body mounted spare tire carrier:

The OE bumper is nowhere close to being strong enough for a swing out tire carrier to attach to. You're gonna need the whole shebang. Or get rid of the 90% useless drop down picnic table and go with the OE or an Exogate carrier. Make sure to avoid the Smittybilt bumper-tire carrier that doesn't hold up

I kind of figured there wasn't one to moinmto the bumper... I might be able to use that genright carrier (have recessed tail lights) but, I would rather have the tire on the outside....
And I kinda like my fold down tailgate... It make the Jeep a little more unique.

Mines some kind of combo deal with a water can and mounts to the bumper, and has a huge wing nut that holds the spare , locks closed with a hitch pin,.

I kinda like 'em, too. Unfortunately, you encounter the very issue you're having regarding the spare. Otherwise, I'd convert mine, as well. :thumbsup:

There is a product called Exogate. But I can't recall if it would work without your tailgate opening up with it, its $400..

Wouldn't work in this situation. Exogate mounts on the tailgate, with new side hinges.

Hey! Waking this post up! Lol. Do you have any info on this tire carrier? I just bought the same one used. Guy said it’s a rugged ridge but I can not find anything on it!

They are still available through extreme terrain. But it's only the one with gas can mounts. I think they buy batches, and they sell out quick. It's the old OR-FAB design, but they're made in China now. I had to massage a couple bolt holes, but Im happy with mine.

I just got mine in September. Keep an eye on the website. I could have had one in August, (was supposed to be late July) but their delivery ran late, and I was going to be gone for two weeks around the estimated arrival time so I cancelled. Like I said, they sell out fast.

You're 2 years too late. @glwood sold his TJ a while back and moved onto bigger and better things.

I set a reminder. I know these need tweaking and work but for the money and the foreman ruined issues remedied or upgraded is not a bad deal. Thanks for the heads up

I like the design, but I really dislike how far the tire sits away from the body with the gas/water can provision. Not to mention $500+ for some Chinesium.

I’ve got the Aluminum version of that carrier. It is damn nice. I’ve got a 37” tire on it and it’s held up great
