While I’m changing the engine out in my Jeep I was thinking about driveshafts. I could do the normal SYE and call it a day after I buy the drive shaft. But for the price that costs should I just spend a little more and buy a better transfer case that does not have a slip yoke already?

A "little" more money? What transfer cases are you looking at as options? I would just add a slip yoke eliminator and call it good. Be aware that there are some shorter than others. There are mega short eliminators that will give you a net gain on driveshaft length which is nothing but good for the TJ's. If you have an LJ, it's not an issue. if you go mega short or super short, you will need to get an aftermarket speedometer device such as a speedohealer.

If you're saying you have access to a Rubicon 241 transfer case then normally I would recommend that, but I don't think the 4:1 ratio would serve you well in Florida. The 231 that comes with non-Rubicon TJs is ideal (+ a SYE) for sand and mud wheeling.
Thats what I was wondering. I did not want to go and upgrade my transfer case just to find out I could have got better if I just looked around.
Yeah but it'll cost you more than a "little" more. Plus it isn't quite bolt up. It'll take a little work and you'll have to figure out pinion angle issues as the 241 is huge compared to the 231.
I have a friend who had a transfer case he was willing to sell me ( I think a nvg241)
