The grass is greener, get the F out of your home state thread

We moved from KC to Nashville a few years ago on my dime. I think about 7-8k. The most expensive thing I noticed on their estimate was TVs so I personally moved the TVs in our home. We also personally moved most of the personal breakable stuff and we sold 1 bedroom set, a big armoire, a sectional, a commercial treadmill and commercial elliptical. I was trying to drop as much weight as possible because they weight the truck after it's loaded for the actual price.

With California's politics and taxes it's no wonder it's now losing population. The state has been in the hands of democrats long enough that people have gotten fed up and are leaving. Of course Governor Newsom will try to blame the state's declining population on anyone and anything else besides what the democrats have been doing to it.

How is the NewScum recall effort going?

It passed, but that doesn't mean he'll be rode out on a rail after being tarred and feathered like he deserves. There are still the election hurdles and it's unlikely a Republican governor is in California's immediate future. The democrat/libtard policies have been drawing more and more liberals and refugees to California and they generally all vote democrat to keep their handouts coming. It won't be long that there won't be enough job holding taxpayers left to keep funding the handouts.

Wouldn't matter either way - Post Davis, Ahnold tried but was unable to get much done at all thanx to the Leftist legislature.

Sinking ship and I live right at one of the impact/infestation epicenters.

I managed to sneak in a political statement into my last City Commission Zoom meeting, though. Believe you me, there were fellow Commissioners silently steaming like broccoli the whole meeting over it.

Uh, did your political statement have anything to do with your Hail Lobster t-shirt? If so, please tell us what that Hail Lobster message means.

It’s ironic how many CA folks move elsewhere saying things like this... then vote for similar policies elsewhere (look at the Denver metro area in Colorado, Austin Texas, Henderson Nevada, etc).

Social Democrats can be called a cancer; and act similarly. Isn't that what Socialists do? Stay until they run out of someone else's money to spend then move on?

well, the clock is ticking. After 5 years away, I'll be returning to Oklahoma residency on June 20th.

The left turn Colorado is continuing to take is problematic to my "live and let live" sensibilities, and yet strangely, the cause of that left turn (population influx from CA) has turned out to be a welcome benefit to me from a financial standpoint.

We closed on this house on March 16, 2020. 14 months later we are under contract for $190k more than we paid, and the sale price is enough that the properties we're looking at in OK are priced 30-50% less. For the first time in my life and probably 15 years before I expected, I'm looking at putting 20% down on a house and leaving more than a years take-home pay in the bank. From a climate and recreational opportunity standpoint, it's a major step down but the financial benefit takes out a lot of the sting.

We have lived in Oregon for a long time, the wife is from Colorado, and all my kids know is the PNW. My wife was asked about a transfer to Tampa last week. If my kids were in college not high school, I think my wife would have tried to talk me into it, and she hates Florida. She's just done with the Oregon politics/taxes. I'm going to hold out for Wyoming, but who knows what we'll do in 5 years when we can make the move.

I may have mentioned this before - but about 2 weeks before I fled Commiefornia, one of my co-workers made a comment about the Democratic vote in Florida going up by one. "Excuse me? Excuse me?!? I am *NOT* going to Californicate the state of Florida!" The guy couldn't get the Hell out of my lab fast enough!
