Tworley build

I got the winch hoop installed, the winch wired back up and respooled the winch line. I need to figure out recovery points and I'm leaning towards a soft shackle mount to replace the OE hooks. I also want to put a different steering box skid on so thats why you dont see it currently.

Hopefully the next pictures in this thread don't include a driveway or garage...

I must have overlooked it, but what winch hoop is that? I’m guessing the safety thimble clears ok with it?

I’ve always loved the bull bar for the looks but is there any functional benefit to running one?

In the 10.5 years I've been wheeling, I've never once wished my winch had protection. I like the look of the hoop and it will probably be used more to pull myself up off the ground than anything else.

I dented mine. Not sure it’d ever hit the winch though. Mine sits further forward than it needs to.

Gotcha. Love the look as well and would be tempted to do it depending on the weight added. I do miss the tubes on my sliders because I would swing on them to slide under the jeep.

I need to weigh mine. I bet its no more than 5lbs.

You don't ram your buddy who is up next on the obstacle but taking time to get going?... Guess that's just me. j/k

:D

On that front, my buddies and me would tap bumpers at red lights in HS since we were all driving beaters... lol.

I've always liked the hoop look on a Jeep. Yours is a clean and good liking install! (y)

This is why I have one. I have found myself climbing around parked on rocks and busting my tail because I had nothing to hold onto. This is a great support for tool for me.

Once apon a time I had a branch crack the plastic solenoid cover on my old tacoma. Not long after I cut off the huge bull bar popular with the yota guys(it's a compensation thing i think?)

That is the only reason I'd like to put a winch height one back on my new bumper

The only issue I see right now is the hoop partially blocks the safety thimble for access. If I could change anything, it would be to make it slightly higher, or change out the fairlead. The latter seems easier!

Would some 0.5”-1” aluminum blocks under the hoop mounts allow happy access to the safety thimble? A hoop has always been aesthetically pleasing.

Thats an idea. The plates are an odd shape though if I wanted to match an aluminum spacer. I'll see if I can work with how it currently sits before I make any changes

Another option is to go back to a regular hawse fairlead and weld on a thimble retaining tab on the winch side of the tube. That would keep it and the line out of harms way (relatively speaking since I know how you drive...)

New shoes on the DD. Falcon Wildpeak AT4Ws. These replaced the worn out duratracs. The 3 mile drive home and these are very quiet. I'll get some highway speeds in this evening. The duratracs had 67k miles on them and honestly, probably should have been replaced 10k miles ago. They are a great tire, but I was ready to try something new. The AT4Ws are slightly narrower, and slightly heavier.
