What are your EQ settings on your factory head unit?

For my 06 X, without a factory sub, I found a used center console from a Rubicon that had the stock amp and speaker. Replaced the torn speaker with a new Kicker, and had a "Car Toys" shop wire it up to my factory 6 disc head unit/player. Nothing major, the parts were cheap, install cost was low (sorry don't recall the amount), and it Sounds great (for me).

Inside the console I have the factory CD holder storage tray. For me, the limited storage there prevents keeping a lot of unusable/lost crap, which is a good thing. I don't worry about theft, both the console lid and glove box lock. If somebody wants to get in that badly, have at it, I don't leave valuable stuff in there when I'm not in the jeep.

Theft of the sub components and head unit ? Possible, but not likely, who really wants to waste the time on stock stuff?

Stock speakers with a small sub added? I think that might be the biggest improvement for the money.

Well, Im not giving up yet...

I went to Walmart and the employee said I could buy all of them and no problem returning as long as it is within 90 days. So I tried all three speakers.

The stock ones still sounded the best to me...but this is all done sitting in the Jeep - parked. It is possible the aftermarket speakers would sound better at higher volumes when driving?

Interestingly, it is obvious to see that the stock speaker dwarfs the other 5.25’s in size and construction.

I weighed each speaker
Scosche: 444g
Sony: 473g
Pioneer 649g
Stock: 738g
Polk (6.5 not 5.25): 785g

I also measured the actual diameter of each speaker cone
Scosche: 4.31”
Sony: 4.50”
Pioneer: 4.55”
Stock: 4.87”
Polk (6.5 not 5.25): 5.56”

A good thing is the stock speaker grill fit on all of them. It touched the 4-way part of the Pioneer speaker but I think it would have been okay.

I think they will all be getting returned. If I had to choose one pair to keep, I think it might be the Scosche. They seemed to have the clearest sounding vocals even though they were the cheapest.

I bought the 2-channel amp today. I got it halfway installed and decided Nope! Not today!

It was a bit bigger than I thought and there is not enough room behind the dash.

Also, my sub wiring harness came in the mail today. Seems nice but still not sure I want wires running back to the trunk area and the loss of cargo space and theft possibility.
