What did you do to your TJ today?

Coat hanger fairlead/winch line on. Winch stopped working in the process so I pulled it apart a bit and cleaned up the contacts. Should be getting a clamp delivered here shortly so I can cut a quick turndown for the muffler.

I've got a bunch of wiring, some welding and painting to do, but I think I might just go cruise around today. Need to find a nice long uphill stretch somewhere to let the line out and re-spool it with some tension on it. It's been a while since the stars have aligned and the Jeep was drive-able, I was off work, and it wasn't raining, all at the same time.

Hehe you honestly thought I wasn't gonna see that supercharger 😜? I know you didnt open that hood and showed a bit of it for no reason 😆
Edit- Is that a nitrous solenoid i see 🧐
I need to hear this and see what power she's making !

Ha hood was already open to disco the battery to work on the winch contacts but I do like a photo with the blower poking out there. Solenoid is just water/meth injection. Never been on a dyno but she runs ~7.5 psi and there are plenty of dyno graphs out there for TJs running similar boost. Probably somewhere around 50% over stock.

SteveI'm actually thinking of selling my Rubicon after 8 years. The camshaft issue came and went. Many hours of driving and then today only 1 mile from home and road construction going on....popping, bucking, smoke from engine and no start. Stuck in traffic and blocking anyone from getting by. 10 minutes in 100+ temps with 98% humidity. Some guy stopped and helped me get it off the road. Walked home to get some tools....3 times. P1391. I disconnected the battery, reconnected it and barely made it that 1 mile (ran red light). I need something more reliable at this point. I would've been fine if it was only 85 and low humidity.
You can rebuild him .. we have the technology …faster stronger better than ever before.

You didn't go gazing from the chum line, that's why you didn't see any. A quick calf cut with your knife, or a small bucket of chum, if you go prepared, while hanging out on that rope and you should be off to the races.

Didn't do as much today as I wanted to. Pulled the center console to run heated seat wiring, then saw that stupid factory sub box and remembered I had a 10" Rockford Fosgate in the corner of the garage, and had an idea. So, I found a place for the sub. Need to order another wiring kit for it.

I'd love to get my hands on one of the big empty center console inserts if anybody has one... would trade for the sub enclosure and coin tray insert

Its funny, well not really.. I just sold my JT in favor of my TJ and LJ due to reliability and long term ownership concerns. The new JT/JL's are having all kinds of problems of their own and the more advanced computer systems make them a royal pain to work on in some regards, not to mention post covid work environments have left a lot of shops 'starting over' in terms of long time institutional knowledge and high quality techs - at least in my area. Theres big paint corrosion issues happening and that was the nail in the coffin for me as it can easily exceed $10,000 to repair which is above stellants threshold - ie, some have been left high and dry despite it being a warranty situation. Super comfortable, easy to drive capable all the bells and whistles. But something about the TJ/LJ that is simple has pulled me back. Of course with the last of the TJ's and LJ's approaching 20 years old, parts availability is probably going to start becoming a problem. But I would suggest looking at jeepgladiatorforum.com and the JL forum before jumping ship. One of the biggest problems people are experiencing (myself included) is warranty repairs are total crap much of the time, not always, but there are a lot of folks having major problems with terrible quality work. Others are having to fight super hard against stellants to get things covered under warranty that are clearly a warranty item. In my case, I had a transfer case leak for a common transfer input shaft seal that is known to be damaged at the factory. Once they finally agreed to replacing the seal, after I had to do the wipe clean and check for several weeks to prove it was not the trans pan, they took it in. The 'top tech' put the transfer case back together wrong the first time so it had to come out again for a second time to be torn apart and put back together. Then they put a bunch of bolts in incorrectly for the x-member, and even forgot to reinstall the plastic skid that protected fuel lines from being hit by debris. All after some internal conflicts turned a 2 day job into over a week - and of course 'no rental car available' despite it having been under contract. So after seeing signs of galvanic corosion, and a valve cover oil leak on the passenger side which requires the entire battery box and PDC to be removed to repair, I was hesitant on reliability, long term ownership, and future warranty repairs. All I'm saying is just be sure you want to go that route first. Maybe look into your local dealers to see what they offer or if there are reports of problems with repairs/warranty. TJ/LJ is far easier to work on IMO in many cases, and a lot of the problems are well known by now. Sure theres no heated seats, but simplicity has its benefits.

It's weird I've also not experienced these O2, OPDA, PCM, etc. problems with either of my 06's that so many have dealt with.

Not today, but I have been chipping away at small items on my new-to-me ‘97. I replaced the tires with 31x10.5/15 Falken Wildpeaks, liking them so far. When doing that I noticed my front pads were crumbling, and then I bumped the left front brake line with the tire when pulling them off and that just fell apart, so brakes and quick brake line repair. Thankfully I had about 2 hrs free to get the tires and all that done, JUST able to finish it by the end of the day for the weekend.
Over the weekend I drilled out the rear window crossbar brackets and secured them with some nice stainless screws and ny-lock nuts.

This week I replaced a broken exhaust hanger, the cat back was just floppin’ around everywhere. I also cleaned out all the garbage from the frame and gave it a few cans of Fluid Film.

Still need to do the rear spring perches, some body mount repairs too, but I have to finish and sell my WRX. I also plan to use some of that money to install a JeepAir kit.

I also repaired the third brake light circuit.
