Novak Conversions Jeep Wrangler TJ engine mounts

What did you do to your TJ today?

yesterday, I backed it out of the garage for the first time in a few weeks to crank it up & let it run for while whilst I did some outdoor cooking, had the girlfriend & her son & his buddy over for some 70 degree weather in March enjoyment.

Didn't even bother latching the hood, wasn't going anywhere

this was a whole wheat sourdough deep dish pesto pie, a 24 hour ferment/rise, blindfolded you'd never know it was whole wheat, the sourdough process is quite phenomenal. Sitting next to it is a standard bbq sammie

another couple weeks it'll be top down half doors season, really looking forward to that

That looks delicious, Willy. My invitation must have gotten delayed in the mail...

Today I finished up timing gears and chain replacement, as well as a water pump replacement and radiator flush. It was a greasy ass job but after about 6 hours of working and cleaning inside the engine bay , I got her back together. My little 2.5l purrs like a walrus now. No hesitation between gears , no sputtering from cold starts, smooth idle to boot! Next job is to get the frame welded up and slap on some new brake lines. I only took a couple pictures since my hands were completely covered in grease and antifreeze but it all went pretty smooth for someone who has never been that deep in an engine before

If you would repair your upper control arm press fit on the passenger side of the axle, you would slow down the DW and get rid of one of those stabilizers.

Buddy and I installed the Savvy rock sliders that I got from @Chris (thanks man!).

Also, TY for the invaluable technical help and patience with my questions @mrblaine.

Disclaimer: This was a scary job for me since I had a mental block regarding drilling holes in my tub (that I could mess up). Definitely a lot of mental growth on my end doing this job.

I replaced the control arms themselves but haven’t looked at those bushings that you’re talking about on the axle. Would a big “C” clamp work for pressing those in ?

I sold her… I also traded in my beloved Diva and upgraded. I bought myself a 2017 Wrangler Sport Unlimited. While I wasn’t too keen in the 4 door at first it solves some of my space issues I had with the TJ. She’s in good hands though so I don’t feel bad, my friend who owns the repair shop I worked at bought her 😁

Installed the Cyclopse starter relay that prevents starting the Jeep unless you press the key fob. It works fine. Expensive, and I hear it can be beat by shorting across the starter, but it slows down a thief. I also installed the Tuffy hood lock. It works fine too. An installation tip on the hood lock.....hold the bolt down with your chin, and if not too inconvenient, remove your left eye, set it at the bottom of the radiator looking upward, so you can see what the heck you are doing.

Those wheels look great.. you paint the black?
Thanks, Yes, I painted them. Couldn't really find any aftermarket wheels I was in love with, without spending $300/wheel. Found the Canyons on Facebook for $100. Wasn't sure if I would like the black, but thought it was worth a try. Can't say I'm in love with them either, but think they turned out and look decent.
