What did you do to your TJ today?

@justinhustle:

That tick is probably just the A/C clutch cycling on and off, which is normal. To check, pop the hood and watch the inside of the pulley on the A/C compressor. With the clutch engaged, it spins and the compressor is pumping. With the clutch disengaged, it does not spin, and the compressor is not pumping. When you're running the A/C, there is a pressure switch that controls the clutch, which prevents the system from blowing up.

would that click be happening every 7-10 seconds or so?

Absolutely. As I said, it’s normal. The system runs until a pressure limit is reached, and then turns off. This cycling time varies, and it can happen very frequently. One thing I’ve noticed with the TJ is that the A/C system is noisier than newer cars, so you may never have noticed this behavior on other vehicles before.

Oh no - Boog’s account has been hacked again…

😉
This is happening a lot- “Chris” is now looking for a light bar. We know it ain’t him. “Blaine” was nice to me recently- I know that’s an imposter, and “zorba” is looking for men’s jeans. Hmmmmm.

Disconnecting the AC compressor takes small hands and a couple of bucks in the swear jar 😆

As @sab said it is normal for it to click on and off every little bit but I would say that you may be getting low on freon. 7-10 seconds is a pretty short cycle and could point towards low freon. Just recently recharged my ac system and cycles about every 30 seconds now.

Jeans? Are you kidding me? Most uncomfortable things ever made. Why do you think I prefer skirts?

Thanks to @Jerry Bransford for posting a link to bow straps for a soft top. I ordered them and installed today. 30 minute task, they were needed as one was shredded and one was missing. Boy was it tough to get the soft top latched!! The pins above the door took every bit of strength. Top is super tight and I’m leaving it up to stretch a bit! The screws provided were junk so I used washers with a pop rivets.

Originating from the movie The Matrix, this colloquial term means to face the hard reality instead of staying inside the comfort zone of fantasy. Synonym of "face it".
And you forgot to say there is no going back once you discover that reality!
I say this as I am imprisoned in my own Country nobody can leave nobody can enter unless of course you are a Politician a Billionaire a Celebrity or a Sports team! lol

A little different here. We now let everyone in, Covid infected or not. We even give them free rides to the state of their choice.

Its pretty strict to get into USA for us! you cant go or even transit USA if you have ever been arrested even without charges!
If ever arrested (in a lifetime) you need to visit a US consulate and an official decides if you are worthy of an entry permit, most times its denied for obvious reasons! And its a long drawn out expensive prosses.

Anyway to keep it relevant I cant see my hard top coming off this summer due to storage problems so decided to put some cross bars and a rack on to carry my camping gear and go camping more, one of my OZ tents is 5' and the other is 6'6" long packed. I got the Surco so I didn't have to drill holes in the hardtop, the rail systems sold here require 5 holes to be drilled each side and they are still only rated for 150lbs unless you have the internal bracings.

Completely dismantled the dash just to clean 20+ years off dust and grime. Even with everything out I couldn’t extract the upper steering column trim. WTF?

Routed the charging cable under the center dash multi storage tray I installed yesterday.

Finally replaced the hardware for the tailgate bar. No way it’s EVER coming loose again.

Figured out where the OBA compressor is going to go. Not just need to figure out where I want the switch and the quick release fitting.
