What is this thing?

I was looking back at pics I took of a TJ I might buy, and I noticed something that I didn't notice when I was taking the pics. Does anyone know what the thing with the red ring on it is? The one with the big red arrow pointing at it...

This is a 2003 X with 95k miles. Btw I also don't know what the rusty bit is above and to the left of the arrow.

I'm also happy to hear any other observations y'all can make from one random suspension pic lol

That's an NSA Tracking Device--if I ever saw one.

A quick remedy for that is (1) round of .45 extreme hollow point--from 4 feet out.

That looks a lot like a motorcycle horn. Can’t imagine why it would be there though.

My 05 came with a built-in horn. Don't know about the 03, though.

The seller didn't say anything about a security system and I didn't see anything in the cab that looked like it had one...

This is under and behind the front bumper.


Come to think of it, I didn't test the horn and don't remember if there was one in the engine compartment... and my pics don't show that side of the compartment. So I guess I'll find out if I buy it lol

I'm thinking it's just a louder, aftermarket horn and the PO didn't want to mount it in place of the other horn. Maybe they're even wired together (for super-duper full effect).

Put your ear there and have someone honk the horn.

But you may hate me for that suggestion later, if it is a horn.
