Which front chromoly shafts for Dana 30?

I’ve run both u-joints and RCV’s in my 60s, hard. I do prefer the RCV’s. And I actually like when I’m at full turn, clawing for traction, and the front wheels turn at a constant speed. That is a thing compared to U-Joints. Now whether or not it makes actual difference in getting up an obstacle, I don’t know - but I still prefer it.

I’ve also never broken an RCV, so I like ‘em.
I've never broken either of my two different 4340 shafts, 30 spline in my Dana 44 and not even the 27 spline Warn shafts in my previous Dana 30.

27 spliners in my Dana 30 a few years ago. 30 splines have been great since.

Thread resurrection:
Do 4340 chromoly shafts rust like factory shafts?
I live in the rust belt and my u joints get rust seized in there so you need a C press or bigger, which bends the ears. I bent my ears & need to replace. Ten Factory is a decent price from Rusty's, and they come assembled. Is it worth my while to disassemble them, grease the inside of the ear holes and reassemble?
This pair of u joints was in there 2.5 years and it sounded like a 22 when they finally let loose on the press
Thanks for any input

Short answer: No.
Long answer: Some of the alloying elements in 4340 reduce corrosion, but unfortunately, it's not enough to make much of a difference. It rusts, but marginally slower.

Recommend the disassembly/ grease/reassembly idea?

I have G2, came on my axles, and have been super solid. If you really want Revolution, I’d run what you have until they come in on the front, but it depends if you’re going to be hitting it hard right after the Super 35, although I wouldn’t think so during break in, but who knows.

There are some others folks may suggest.

And some may warn “don’t drive a day on those stock shafts” but I think you’ll make the wait.

The stock shafts will be just fine if you are nice. I run bead locks and 37s on the rubicon with a HP 30/44 combo on stock shafts and have been fine so far. I plan to move up to revolution chromalloys shortly though.
