Because I would see them around here as a kid, once I found out I could also own one it became my mission. I had the 4runner since i was a similar vehicle to it, however when that ended up not working out I got the tj when my camry decided to stop going up hill in the snow.

I've always loved off roading as a kid growing up my dad would take me in his truck. then as a teenager me and my best friend would take his truck out and go off roading. we would always see people out on the trails in jeeps and we told each other one day we will both have a model jeep and go off roading together. 10 years later I happen to buy a TJ and love it. And with out knowing I had a TJ he bought an XJ. the sad thing is the 2 years that we have both owned these jeeps they have never been together. since we live so far away now, but we always talk about making a road trip and making our childhood promise a reality.

Because after 30 years of thinking I should get one, I did. I love the old style wranglers.
Because a Jeep CJ was my first vehicle. And in attempting to recapture my youth, back in my 30's I tried to build a second CJ, but was denied finishing it.
This time around, I did a fair amount of research, and found that a YJ would be a better tub (rust) and even further research proved the TJ suspension trumped ALL PREVIOUS versions. And...I really do not like the look of a JK. Especially the 2 dr version.

Ugh, yeah I hate the leaf springs on the YJ. IMO the coil springs on the TJ was a huge improvement.
Also with you on the JKs, I personally don't like the look of them.

I own a TJ because I wanted the most capable Jeep I could buy. I had both a '90 XJ and an '04 WJ but the they are too long and the WJ was too wide. I wen't down a few trails in my WJ with some JK's and JKU's and all of us had our mirrors hitting on both sides as we squeezed through trails. I even watched a JKU K-turn through the woods. All of the TJ's and YJ's had no problem.

So my 1st new vehicle right out of high school was a 1983 CJ-7 Renagade ,man it was awesome I owned that one for 12 years daily driver then later on 92 YJ Sahara that was factory flat mat green very rare,

97 TJ Sahara
2011 JKUR it seats 5 & I have a family of 5
Now my favorite one of all 2005 LJ Light Kaki Metallic

Yep, it's a pretty simple engine thankfully!
There is a conversion to put a carb on an EFI 4.0L.

Because it gets me where I want to go and the way I want to get there.
I've gotta chime in on this one, even though its a little old.
It absolutely fits my lifestyle (or anyone's lifestyle for that matter)...but back to my lifestyle, lol. I'm an everyday adventurer, a world traveler, and a lover of life. I feel like my Wrangler is exactly the same thing in its own ways. There is no other vehicle that can be made to adapt to its environment like these things can. That concept alone is a good enough reason but it does not stop there. Not even close.

I own my Tj because I love adventure, exploring trails, enjoying the outdoors. The top off, doorless experience compares to no other. Its customizable and I can do whatever I want with it. Its tough, dependable and has the cool factor as well. It also has to do with the Jeep being an American Icon and I can't see myself without it. Its also my first "car"
