ZJ tie rod conversion question

I bought the moog parts on Amazon for the conversion and I am having trouble where the drag link connects to the pitman arm. The bolt on the tie rod end goes into the pitman arm, but it is at the slightest angle and it won’t go all the way through. What do I need to adjust to make it work?

The tie rod end has a taper and does not slide in all the way into the pitman arm hole. When the castle nut is screwed onto the threads of the TRE and tightened; this will pull the threaded taper further into the hole of the pitman arm and align.
If the angle is quite abrupt; you can loosen the bolts on the collar and spin the collar to decrease the angle.

The taper isn’t coming out at all. Nothing to screw

Just to clarify… you are trying to insert the new TRE taper into the pitman arm hole ?
The new TRE taper should slide into the hole enough to expose the threaded end enough to thread on the nut.
Inspect the hole for burrs or other obstructions as to why the taper cannot be inserted enough.

Yes, inserting the taper but it’s going in at a slight angle. I can reach around and the taper is not coming out of the hole. I feel half of it flush and the other half is inside - so it’s crooked. The angle is keeping it from coming through any further.

Loosen the two bolts on the adjustment collar and turn the collar to straighten the angle so the taper will go into the hole.

The tapered part is a ball joint.it can be moved so the angle lines up and will insert straight. A new one is just a little tough to get moving. A nut on the threads and then a socket with extension can give the leverage needed to get it to the right angle.
