Easy, get a front axle out of a 4 cyl.TJ and a rear out of the same or a rear Dana 44 out of a rubiconSorry, it's an automatic transmission.
Jerry's going to come down from the mountain with some tablets that say 5.13.Sorry, it's an automatic transmission.
Thank you for the information. You live in the flat low altitude state of Louisiana. For your 4.0 and 32RH 3-speed automatic I'd go strictly 4.10 for 33's. If you have plans to eventually get 35's I'd go with 4.56. Your automatic means you don't need or want a lower ratio like 4.88 or even 5.13.

At a minimum, you’ll need gears, master install kit, and new carriers. If you want lockers, all but lunchbox lockers will replace the carriers. What parts will I need to buy to regear to 4.10? My mechanic by my house says to regear I will need to change out a few things. He quoted me a price of around $3600 to do front and rear. Just trying to figure out what's all needed to be able to run 33" tires.
Not usually. If you use lunchbox lockers, those will also need new carriers.
When converting from his 3.07 gears to 4.10? I’m not speaking in general, I’m answering his question and referring to this specific circumstance. Not usually.
It depends on what it includes. What are you getting for that price? Thanks for the info. Does the price sound right for what I want to do?
Same thing I did, same price, give or take 100.00It depends on what it includes. What are you getting for that price?
As a frame of reference, I recently regeared from 3.07 to 4.56 and spent appx. $3,200 for the following:
I didn't need carriers because the front locker and the rear Truetrac replace the carriers.
- Front Eaton Elocker
- Rear Detroit Truetrac
- Front and rear rings and pinions
- Master install kits for both axles
- Labor
- Sales Tax on parts (no sales tax on labor)
It wasn't the cheapest rate I found, but it was far from the most expensive in this area. It may be worth getting quotes from a couple of different shops to see what is reasonable for your area.
You don't need new carriers to go to lower ratios like from 3.07 to 4.10, all you need is the correct "thick" gear set that eliminates the extra cost of replacement carriers. When converting from his 3.07 gears to 4.10? Are there thick-cut Dana 30 and Dana 35 gearsets? If so, I've never seen them (not that I've searched hard for them)...You don't need new carriers to go to lower ratios like from 3.07 to 4.10, all you need is the correct "thick" gear set that eliminates the extra cost of replacement carriers.
