Armorlite available for TJs?

This seems to be a newer addition to the carpet replacement aftermarket options. Looks like an all-in-one combination of weathertech mats + nicer version of bedrug.. seems to be quite popular in the newer jeeps/trucks.

Does anyone here have this thing on your newer vehicles? I still think mass backed carpet + weathertech mats is the way to go. But for a purely trail rig, this might work?

A little pricey at $700 for a complete kit for the TJ, but maybe worth it? How much thicker/better contoured do you think it will be vs. Bedtred?

This thing is supposed to be 1" thick for all of it. Quite a bit more than bedrug+weatherlite I think? I'll go look at my jeep later, but I am sure it is not 1" in mine.

One thing I like is that they put in drain holes through the entire thing.

I believe if I had that I would just put axles under it and drive it around.

It probably helps some, but one of the benefits to a true mass backed system is attachment to the thing that’s going to make the noise. With dynamat (and ask the others) you change the mass of the panel, plus the butyl rubber has a dampening characteristic in and of itself. It can’t rattle if it doesn’t resonant.

Thanks for posting, I’d be interested in trying this as long as it doesn’t weigh a million pounds which I don’t think it does. I’d love a way to get rid of carpet without sacrificing insulation.

For your use .. this might be a better option than bedliner or just having bedrug only. Bunch of reviews on JL/JL/JT forums, check and out ..

Well I must admit that my searching abilities totally suck lately otherwise I would have found this days ago. Anyway... I called Armorlite. I have been interested in their product since I saw their JT option. But, their tan in the JT seemed FAR too light to me in the few pictures I have seen. Bringing this up to them, I asked if they could send me a sample to make sure the tan matches the TJ and LJ interior and doesnt have a terrible contrast like it does the very odd tan seats of the Gladiator. It arrived today and Im' impressed. It is definitely lighter than I would like. But far better than black. I just hate that every modern car these days has nothing but black.....everywhere. Black seats, black dash, black console, black roof, black floor. yuck. It's so hard to clean and hide deformities.

Ok so here are some photos. I tried taking different angles with the sun, shade, etc... since it's a bit hard to tell in photos. it is for sure lighter than the floor by several shades. And a different kind of tan than the dash. It's more of a sand color really than a tan. And not the sand of the third world. I think this will work. This sample is not thick and I think this is what would go in the back where they do not add the extra sound deadening stuff to. I actually like it. It's about 1/4" thick and the back side has a nice felt to it. The rubber is significantly thicker than I expected which is good. One of my worries was how thin the rubber would be and how fast boots would wear through it. I think that would take 10-20 years with how thick this stuff is. It is also quite soft and pretty grippy. The texture is something like what I would imagine monstaliner would be only this has a lot more grip which, for me, is perfect. I will probably be placing an order soon for the TJ and LJ in tan.

I did. Check out post 17 and 20 on my build thread. I went with black because the tan felt too light. I'm undecided on what color to go with for the LJ which is the light kaki color. I think the black is ok but I would much prefer a darker brown to match the OEM carpet, I just dislike having so much black inside. But functionally, it is awesome so far. Install is best on a nice warm day - I did mine in the cold and it made everything stiff and a pain to work with.

I have it in my Jeep as well and love it.

I may be replacing my TJ with a newer Jeep one day and it will also get Armorlite flooring. It’s great stuff

How are the heat and noise insulators on the armorlite product? Anyone have data on the effectiveness? Interested in something better than stock for mainly heat radiating into the cab.

Hard data….no. Definitely keeps some heat out and I’d say lower sound as well. It’s not a massive change but there is noticeable improvement in both areas.

I replaced factory carpet with the Armorlite flooring. Next Jeep I own will immediately get Armorlite flooring

I just received my full kit order for the 2005-2006 LJ, Rubicon unlimited, and if I could go back 4 days, I’d tell myself DONT DO IT.
The cargo sections do not mold correctly to the bed, are a 1/2” too long and the stamped openings are off by that same 1/2”. Using the cargo Matt make my factor mount points useless and the deadening material is less than half of that in the seating mats, severely limiting the sound/thermal dampening.
The front seating areas are not cut right for the Rubicon Unlimited. There are so many water intrusion points that you’re going to trap water between the mat and the metal.

I’ve had to gut the interior and take a knife to every panel. For the cost of the kit, I would not do this again or recommend to other TJ (LJ at least) owners. I’m sure those with JKs and JLs will absolutely love it. As for me? It’s horrid to look at, half effective as I had hoped, and I only left it in the Jeep because I couldn’t stomach putting $1k in the trash. Whatever Jeep they used for the mold, it wasn’t a LJ.
