I have a 1999 4.0 and I just found that the junkyard near me has several 01-04 4.7 Durangos in stock.

A 20 year old junkyard Durango alternator isn't an "upgrade" IMO. It's like buying a 10 year old AGM battery.

35 bucks to get a 36% upgrade to power? Even if it only lasts me 6 months that'll be enough time to get a HO replacement. And it's a 20 year old alternator replacing a 24 year old alternator. Other than the time it takes to pull it from a yard and install it in my Jeep this is a total win.

They don't help except for brief hits, they do nothing for continuous high amp draws. What he will need sooner or later with that audio system is hearing aids. I'm now wearing a pair of them and I still can't hear/understand 2/3 of what my wife says.
