May have stuck gold on this find - What rear axle is this?

That doesn't bother me in the least. There's lots of shit I don't know. But the shit I do know, I am 100% sure of. The difference between me and most folks is I have no problem saying when I don't know.

So long as you know i was joking with you. 😉

The hiem joint link ends won't last long

They don't look like rod ends. They look like the crap joints that RK makes or made. It also has a Daystar body lift which needs to go away and then hunt down the idiot that can't build rear bumper tabs that actually center on the frame.

When they installed the 8.8, instead of getting Rubicon parking brake cables, they folded over the drum brake cables to make a loop and used a cable clamp.

What the hell is going on there?

Looks like Rusty's since it's on top of the tie rod.

Those lower ones don't. The ones on top of the rear diff sure look small enough to be rod ends though

They are but we run quality versions and never have a problem with them. I suspect we may not be using the same parts though.

Haha, this is good stuff. Thanks guys. I originally picked it up for the property use instead of a side by side I was looking at that cost way too much. I figured it could do the job and be street legal in a pinch, so she won't see many pavement miles in a year. I work 2 miles from my rent house so it might get 30 miles a week tops until we move out to the property. At that point, it will be a beater.

I used to run Fox body Mustangs so knowing it is an 8.8 helps a lot.

I haven't had it out on the road at any speeds yet to know if the driveline vibs or if I am taking my life into my hands, lol.

I'm glad we haven't scared you off yet. Hopefully some nicer guys can chime in too.😂

I'm interested in the cowl intake setup. Please get us some pics of the routing and parts inside the cowling if it ever comes apart.

Lots of knowledge here.the guys can answer any questions you have about your jeep!

As far as steering you want the drag link and track bar as parallel as possible. On a stockish jeep like yours that usually means a stock pitman arm and stock trackbar mount locations.combine that with factory style steering for the best steering response.

The zj tie rod upgrade is an option. Currie currectlync is the best available stock style steering $$

At least you are taking in the spirit in which it it intended. The last guy we chatted with got all huffy and took his ball and went home.

I suspect that trying to get it up to highway speed will show you why you got it for the price you did. It is going to be a handful most likely and you won't want to spend too much time at those speeds until you fix up a few things.

I have an 8.8 with an arb in my jeep. I'm pretty damn confident that these guys are correct in guessing that is what you are working with.

I had my tubes welded to the carrier when mine was built. I think I remember that was "the" weakness of the 8.8. I am far from an expert, so I could be wrong. I'm relying on memory from 10+ years ago...

I had mine put in back when 8.8's were a super common upgrade in these things. I've never had any problems, but my off-roading was pretty limited back then. Never used on rocks.

I got confirmation it is an 8.8 from the guy that made the diff cover, so good work guys. It should not present a problem to tear down.

Welcome to the forum, Dude - 8.8 and all…

Looks like a fun project for you. I’m in for the ride.
