I gave the Ram 2500 a looking over in preparation for a road trip this weekend. Aired up a bit; checked fluids, belts and hoses, etc.
I was disappointed to see this rust on the rear rotor. The other side isn’t this bad, just sort of black oxidized. I had driven the truck about 10 hours prior so the rust seems excessive, and I recently had an issue with the front caliper seizing, so now I’m afraid the rears are too. I don’t drive much, and in this rig I use the exhaust brake so the brakes have an easy life. I think I need to be greasing them and doing some intentional braking more.
So tomorrow I’ll go for a drive and see if they polish themselves, and if not I’ll be seeing if I can free that piston without needing a trip-jeopardizing brake job.
