Making the Switch to a 4:1 Transfer Case

I have seen a ton of info on here, but all of the great advice seems to be rig-specific. That being said, this is what I have:

2005 LJ 4.0, w/ 6 Speed Manual
Ford 8.8 Rear End
JK Dana 30 Front Axle - Artec Truss
4:88 Gears
Rock Krawler 3.5" X-Factor X2 Long Arm Flat Belly Kit
Front and Rear Selectable ARB Lockers
Brown Dog Engine Mounts w/ 1.5" Lift
1.25" Artec Boatside Body Mount Kit

I want to make the switch to a 4:1 transfer case.

Can someone tell me exactly what model transfer cases will work and what modifications I will need for the conversion? I want to have everything ready before I get start the project. Thank you in advance!

Thank you. I have read that one, a lot of great information. I am set on going the 4:1 route.

I am asking if there is a specific 4:1 tc that I need with my setup or if there are options? Also, if there are other mods I will need to make so everything works like it should?

I would contact @mrblaine ; he is quite the knowledgeable guy....
I am sure he had done numerous conversions similar to what you want to do...

Well, a TJ Rubicon 4:1 is going to bolt right in. Probably will require new driveshafts as the Rubis used different U joints.

A 241OR RockTrack from an ‘03-06 Rubicon
New driveshafts and/or yokes to match the TCase front and rear outputs and your axle inputs
TCase shifter cable for the TJ Rubicon

Tell him to make me an offer on a swap. A 4:1 tcase is useless for anything except rock crawling.

The other option is the 4.3:1 Atlas. I've run both the 241OR and Atlas. I prefer the Atlas because you can run the rig in 2wd low, which I actually use quite a bit

Rock crawling is what I want the 4:1 for.

Another vote for an Atlas. Some reasons: New case for similar dollars for a used 241. Twin stick = front digs. Pick your ratio (if you like rocks and have a manual, 5:1 is best.

I can’t find it either. I’m sure most say 241J and 4:1 and some say 241OR and 4:1.

There are a few on EBay. At those prices you are in Atlas territory.
