Making progress on the electric fan/new water pump/...? Got the rad drained, lower temp sender put together and both ECT wiring and PWM/ power to the fan. 80A fuse arrived.

My little Lincoln welder struggled to make enough heat for 0.35 308 flux core on the extra O2 bung I need for my wideband, so I brazed some hard silver with Harris black flux to make sure I had no leaks. It's a good ways down from the precats, so if it sees sustained 1300°F, I probably have other issues. Currently finding 409 stainless a pain.

Cleggs is a bit further out on the parts for the other part of the project. Gotta make some decisions about what's in for my trip 2nd week of June. Maybe run just the Edelbrock head and 0.027 head gasket and see what a bit more compression does for the stock 4.0L?

Moved the intake temp sensor to the intake tube.

Is this dirt in your intake?

Is your air filter passing dirt? Do you have an air leak downstream of the filter?

Also - great beverage choice! Is Sprecher Root Beer available in AZ? I went to college in Milwaukee and Sprecher was a young upstart company back then...

Got her buttoned up, and took her on a short test drive.

Front body mount puck helps hold the radiator skid. When I first installed said skid, there was rust inside this thing. Taking it off again to R&R the skid, showed more rust. I still don't know the where/why/how of the water getting into the puck originally, but its pretty obvious that water can get into it now over the top of the skid. So I drilled drain holes in the thing, rust reformed it, and put it back on! I think I need to check the rest of them...

Nothing blew up, broke, or leaked! At least, not yet. Goes in for an alignment tomorrow. Brakes seem to work fine, although the pedal seems slightly soft, so I may do a bit more bleeding.

The locker definitely unlocks on turns, but I need to do some more testing to observe it in its locked state. All I have ready access to is a flat dirt road - any suggestions for testing would be appreciated...

Find a ditch that would make you start to lose traction if you went across it diagonally due to to opposite wheels wanting to lift. The locker cures that phenomenon but will allow you to keep going until you flop over in more extreme situations like the boys in utah all just did

The best I could do was to put it in 1st, and romp on it. First, I was trying to get both fronts to break loose - nope. One of the backs would a little bit, but that was it. So then I dropped one front tire into a convenient mud puddle and tried romping on it. That kinda-sorta proved locking as the Jeep would just shoot forward without any drama whatsoever!

It’s very dried out, not worried about it.

However I did just switch to a paper filter from the crap “performance” one from the THOR intake.
