It’s been raining so minimal progress after work hours last night
No pix, but cut down the triple trunked palm tree in the front yard. It was killed by the deep freeze we had last January. Cut the whole thing down, and cut the three trunks into 24 inch-ish logs - all with my Milwaukee M12 "Hatchet", using only one battery.
One piece of technology I have really come to like is cordless power tools. I've got all sorts of them and they all work great. I love not having to deal with a cord.
The only one I wouldn't recommend is the cordless leaf blower. That thing eats through even the biggest batteries quite fast.
I don't think I've touched my air impact since i got my Dewalt.
Damn things *are* addictive, aren't they? I'm waiting for an M12 1/2" impact to be on a deep discount...One piece of technology I have really come to like is cordless power tools. I've got all sorts of them and they all work great. I love not having to deal with a cord.

I’m still screwing around with the 70s Herter’s Mini Trail mini bike. There is a constant reshuffling of projects at Chez Fromage and the scoot has finally worked it way forward. Or so I thought until the sand blaster said, “Not today”. Sunuva….
It’s not drawing any media. Okay, it’s Horror Freight cabinet, so it’s got that working against it. I replaced the stock gun with a better quality one, along with a foot pedal to ease hand fatigue a couple months ago. Worked okay on and off. I spent the first quarter century of my working career building and testing spray paint systems. I’ve forgotten more about pneumatics than most folks know. High pressure air moving over an open hole creates a vacuum through said hole. A siphon. Back when I was young and had a full head of hair, when we lost the siphon there was a blockage down stream. To clear it, we’d hold a rag or a gloved thumb over the end of the paint nozzle and pull the trigger. The air has to go someplace, so it goes back through the siphon tube and back into the cup. If you were lucky, that cleared the blockage and didn’t force paint out of the cup and on you. We called it ‘blowing back’.
I tried ‘blowing back’ on the sand blast gun. Nada. Nope. Nothing. There is a serious blockage in the siphon tube. Time to get serious. I run 100 psi to the sand blaster. The garage system pressure is 150 psi. There’s regulators, driers, and drains in the entire system. I took the siphon hose off the gun and shot 150 psi into the siphon tube. Still nothing.
So now I have to pull the siphon tube from the cabinet. There’s 40 lbs of media in the cabinet and just the door on the right side that lets me inside for all the fun. I get the siphon tube out and plugging the inlet are the desiccated remains of a mouse. Little feet’s and a tail sticking out the tube. Wonderful. I figured that I should shift through the media…just in case. I found a mouse pelt, several corn kernels, and a couple of feathers.
All back together and working better than ever. I can probably drop the pressure to 75 psi now. I bought the cabinet, used, from a farm in Winnebago county, IL. The seller threw in a container of media and I never thought to check if it had a population center in it.
Anyway, back to the mini bike…I finished blasting the belt guard today and got it painted with bed liner. The surfaces are so pitted that bed liner is the best option. It’s supposed to rain the next few days, so the driveway repair and sealing is on hold. That will give me time to finish the gas tank and mounting the kill switch so I can get it out of my garage.
When I was clearing out my tank house on Saturday before insulating it on Sunday, I picked up a box of PVC plumbing fittings, and a mouse jumped out, hit my chest, and dropped to the floor with me in hot pursuit stomping to try and dispatch it. No luck. On Sunday, I saw him again while hanging insulation. Dirty bugger. I need to set some traps...
