Wondering if anyone has ever considered their seat angle? I own a 2001 Sport and having read most of the posts about seat height I feel for me that is not the issue but more the seat angle. I raised my seat 1" in the back only and find this puts my legs at a much more comfortable angle. Less Lazy Boy and more kitchen table.

Thanks for this missing link!!!! I raised my seat with the 1.25" pucks and that helped a lot but I noticed it strained my right leg (I have nerve damage). I'm going to try and raise the back a little higher.
Also the butt portion of my seat is too soft, sort of saggy like it is worn out some. I see you can buy seat pans which I would assume fix that.
One other thing I noticed is that these seats (2004) suck in terms of whiplash. The head rest is too far back and allows for too much movement in an accident and also you can't rest your head back.
On my long list of things to do, replacing the seats is one.

Yep, I've considered it and have also raised the back more than the front...so 1.25 in front, 1.75 in rear. I've also shaved a few inches of foam off the front of the seat because the "bench" was too long for my stump legs! Much more comfortable now.

OK, good to know. .5" in the rear over the 1.25" I already have. What did you use to get that .5" and I'm assuming you are running the RC seat lift, did you need to get new bolts?

Yes RC for the 1.25. Some wont like this, but I have 4 washers stacked for the 0.5". Not an elegant solution, but that is what I had in the garage at the time.

I personally don't have a problem with the angle of the seat at all. Truth be told, I'm not even sure the seat height (or lack thereof) bothers me on my 2005.

Oh sorry, I didn't answer all the questions. I believe I used the same bolts. It is hard to remember after all the bolts I've removed/replaced on this thing!

I have the opposite problem from most. I had to lower my seats or my head would hit the rollbar. Then added seat extension brackets to get them further back.

I sold my YJ about 15 years ago, or more. The I noticed the low seat when I first drove my very new to me 2005 immediately. Felt very weird.

Just put the 1.25" spacers in last night. Sooo much better!

My seats have been driving me nuts lately, I've adjusted my seat height using risers in the past with no help but never angled it with risers just on the back. I want to give it a try after reading this but I'm curious if the seat brackets have a gap against the floor and if the lack of proper clamping could be a safety issue. Can any of you who have done this take some side photos of how it looks all mounted up?
 
There is less surface area in contact with the floor. I don't have any facts or data on this, but I suspect that if I were in an accident bad enough to shear the 4 bolts that would be the least of my worries. I guess I should crunch a few numbers to get a more quantitative assessment. I really don't like the washers on the rear which results in even less surface area; without data to back this up, I do not recommend this approach. I will be replacing the washers with modified pucks I got with my tire carrier. There is also a larger moment arm on the rear bolts.

Anyway, here are a few pictures. Let me know if you need another angle. I'm elevation challenges so this mod is a must for me to enjoy driving the jeep. Setting the back higher than the front was also a must for me to be comfortable.

I'm ready to do this too. I have the washers on my work bench but the ones I got are much larger, almost the exact size of the plastic spacer.
The thing I noticed is that the bolts that came with the spacer kit (that are installed right now) do not appear to be long enough to handle 1/2" height of the washers so it's back to the hardware store to get bolts that are 1/2" longer.
One thing that is frustrating me is how the driver's seat is soft and much more worn out than teh passenger seat, which is nice and firm and practically new. I wish there were a way to swap them.
