What did you do to your TJ today?

Absolutely! Found them on Amazon:

Was tired of it just being straight plastic and seeing the screw hole in the bottom. They fit perfect too and are cheap.

Like I told my wife it really can be the little things. I installed a lift last weekend but oddly enough I felt more proud about replacing the lock cylinder on the steering column. Made my Jeep go from feeling cheap to feeling new again when the damn keys don’t fall out the ignition anymore.

Now I got to fix the center console, the lid has long since decided it doesn’t want to stay attached anymore. Just need a couple nuts, bolts and washers to fix it but I ain’t even had time to get to Home Depot to do that! Hopefully I’ll have the five minutes I need on the way back into town tomorrow.
Well there is another 10 bucks to the jeep gods. Im not sure how much longer I will be able to afford to look at the forums.

Couple of days ago actually. All new brakes pads and rotors on all four wheels. Went smoothly except for the back rotors. Spent almost 2 hours on the first set trying to get the rotor off. Realized I left the parking brake on. Everything else went great after turning it off. Despite rolling into a ice melt puddle adjusting the parking brake.

Haha I put my lift on last weekend. Went inside and came back out to my buddy that was helping me and he was struggling with taking off a drum to make a little extra room. Took us both a little bit before we remembered the brake was on! Can’t say it was quite two hours though!

replaced the heat/ac knob last night. Thought I had a bad actuator door as my defroster wasn't working. Pulled the knob off and realized the inside plastic female receiver was cracked and just spinning on the shaft. Replaced the knob with an OEM new one from ebay and presto, defroster works. I like cheap and easy repairs.

Just got my 2001 TJ back yesterday from the shop. It took a couple of weeks to take care of the rusted out frame and totally replace all the brake lines. The skid plate supporting sections and the rear control arm sections were pretty much gone. Here is a before of the skid plate section:

And here is the after:

Been down that exact same road, brother...

Didnt really do anything TO my TJ today since the top is off and its in the garage and its cold for Florida today (high in low 60's). But FOR the TJ I ordered 4 new MOPAR sensors. I am stockpiling all the sensors (all MOPAR) along with cooling system parts, etc. Its my way of showing my commitment to my TJ for the long haul (until I am too old to drive - I am 53). Of course my TJ only has 52k right now and its not a daily driver. But of my three vehicles its by far my favorite to drive.

Today I ordered a
Crankshaft Position Sensor
Throttle Position Sensor
Air Temperature Sensor
Coolant Temperature Sensor

I already have
Vehicle Speed Sensor
Camshaft Position Sensor
MAP Sensor
Battery Temperature Sensor

Still looking for an Oil Pressure Sending Unit...
Cannot find a MOPAR master cylinder...only aftermarket
Cant find MOPAR Anti Lock Brake Sensors either - aftermarket only

Eventually I will order a Radiator, Water Pump and fan Clutch
Will order O2 sensors
Will order the fuel pump (probably the Bosch pump instead of the MOPAR complete unit).
Undecided if I will bother with a PCM. Those should always be available used and can be remanufactured.

Pretty much everything else I am ok with aftermarket or used/remanufactured when things break. That said, interior plastics...mine are good and should remain that way so I won't collect them. But if my TJ were parked outside in the sun much, I would collect a complete set of them too.

Slight variation on the thread. Today’s post is “what did your TJ do to you today”. Was putting up the Christmas Tree and decorations yesterday and had the Jeep parked out front. The ‘97 just sat there watching me, judging me, mocking me. I got the message. Taking her out for a ride today.

Took it off the road so the salt doesn’t eat it all winter. All non-Jeep people think i’m crazy for not using it in winter with all the snow we get here. If only Jeep used galvanized metal, oh well.

Today i am installing new valve springs on my 97 2.5L screaming 4 banger. I may have ended up with a 97 motor with the bad valve springs. Jeep issued a TSB but no recall on the bad batch of springs.
With 169k, this will help the

rough idle for sure.
It wasn't running that bad, but i was getting random misfire codes (43, 43, 43) so I hope this solves the misfire problem :)

That's a shame cuz Jeeps look beautiful in the snow!
I guess your neighbors look at you odd if you are always having to spray the undercarriage after picking up groceries n such ... ?

I was gonna say that I replaced the thermostat but I discovered that there wasn't one to replace so more accurate to say I installed a thermostat. the engine temp has been running low since the weather got colder and with little heat in the cabin I thought I'd start by replacing the thermostat.

I'm having trouble getting a water-tight seal with the new thermostat. just added RTV sealant to see it if that will help - even though I've read that it is not needed. if that doesn't work, I'll get a new housing and another gasket and see it if that does it. I took my time cleaning the surfaces but maybe I damaged the new gasket. here are some pics.

Added vent switches for my light bar and cube lights (before the switches were just dangling down on the floor) and the pitch and roll meter

New shift knob

And replaced the straps on the door with armrests.
