What did you do to your TJ today?

Replaced the entire front end on the beast this week.... My 03 Sport was developing the dreaded "Death Wobble". I've owned it only a couple of years, but there's 139K on the clock so I decided it was a good idea. Upper/Lower control arms, tie rod ends, track bar, steering damper, ball joints, the whole works. Unbelievable how she runs down the road now. Incredible difference and no more wobble.

Also swapped out the speedo gear since we had it up on the lift. JK Sahara 18 inchers on there so the speedo was incorrect. Replaced the original with a 26 tooth gear which corrected the speedo nicely. The thread under the "how to" section was very helpful. Next project? Brakes.

This past weekend was rainy , so there was plenty of time to spend working in the garage.
Installed new heavy duty tailgate hinge and set up recovery gear, etc in the back.
The Hinge is Tactic, what a nice hinge, definitely beefier than stock.

15 to 19 gal gas tank mod complete. 1997 so I only had two lines and an electrical connector. Took about 4 inches out of the vent tube.

when I dropped the tank my fuel light had been on for a while and my gauge was on very empty. Removing the tank I still had 3 inches of fuel in the bottom of tank. I am guessing 3 to 4 gallons. Guestament by weight

The most I have ever add to the tank was 12 gallons. I added 15.5 gallons after the mod. I threw a gallon gas can in the back and reset the trip meter. I will run it empty to get my mileage, since my gauge and light seem to be inaccurate.

Thanks for a great site to learn all these mods from!

Just so everyone knows, so they won't laugh, I'm not a seamstress. :D. I made a cover for the windshield and door windows for the freezing mornings. :D I sometimes get off work real early and so my windows will frost and freeze. This is my fix so I can uncover and drive off. :D I really would have liked something purple, but I did'nt have an old purple sheet I was willing to cut up. LOL

I wanted something similar to the what I have for my bus, 1st pic. And, no I didn't make those LOL, but you can probable guess that. :D

I really like the Tactik hinge. Any idea if it changes the height of the spare tire or distance away from the tailgate?

Spent the day grinding down the rusty recycled sheet of 3/16 steel, trying to figure out the correct measurements, I really only need to know now exactly how thick the bumper from top to bottom of frame needs to be for sure. I still don’t have the Jeep back so I can’t measure it myself so just hoping the internet is right!

Would you be better off waiting ? ...measure twice cut once kinda thing

Removed the 2" coil spacers (because nothing else was done to accommodate the extra lift and the shocks were topped out), fixed the right side cruise control switch, picked up my repaired soft top from the upholstery shop... and discovered that I have a severely leaking RF axle seal. Joy.

Not sure if I should be asking this here but here goes. Due the the rare amount of rain here in Vegas I noticed water built up on my cargo mat. Not sure if you could tell from the picture that there's a gap on my hard top window at about the hindge. Does anyone know the proper way to adjust it to seal? Photo is looking up while closed.

Picked up another piece missing from my new to me Rubicon. The drivers side sunvisor was missing. Po had mounted the passenger side one on the driver's side. I found one online, cleaned it up and got it installed.

I'm not sure what was on it but it took a hell of a lot of scrubbing to clean it up. Lol. Before and after.
