Hi folks,

I found a manual 2005 clean white TJ. 81,000 miles on it. No rust. Some mild cosmetic issues. Biggest issue.... driver side collision, i believe something with the axel. Now.... title is rebuilt. The seller states she bought it without a title from first owner (if that makes sense) due to the frame and condition and knew she could repair it. She had her brother repair whatever was messed up. They had to have it inspected 3 times by the state to get the title to say rebuilt. Her asking price is 13,000. Condition looks mint in person. Would you guys buy this?????

No. Not paying a premium price for a rebuilt title. Should get a nice discount due to that title.

Not knowing the miles it is hard to say,

~$8,000

For reference, I bought an 05' TJ with 46,000 miles in awesome condition, no rust, no issues, great interior for $12,000.

How are you going to know the axle is straight? I just talked to a guy who drove his for thousands of miles and didn't know his axle was bent.

No way , that is not mint condition .

Which axle, front or rear?

What model TJ is this? X, Sport, Sahara, Rubicon?

Turn the key on/off three times to see if there are any codes.

Keep looking! For that price you could get a nice TJ or LJ without a salvage title. If it took them 3 times to pass inspection I would wonder how well they fixed things.

Front axel. It’s a sport. The owner did not go into too much detail of the collision. Basically bought it off of someone as salvaged then had her brother repair everything. It was inspected 3 times, most recently in july. I’m not 100% sure if the story is the truth, going off what she said.

Appreciate it. You think that was a red flag when they said they brought it three times for inspection. Not sure if it was part of the state regulation or not?

The miles are 81k. Shes asking 14000. Needs a new windshield. Other than that, no rust rot issues. I do not know if the axle is bent.

That’s what I figured. The only reason that i’m torn between just trying to get the jeep for cheaper is..... I’m having a difficulty finding a manual white clean TJ in great condition no rust. Very very hard

Based on the story, nope.

For $13k, you can get a clear-titled TJ without the drama, with low mileage.

Can you run the risk on buying a clean title TJ and have many issues to follow as well??? That’s why i’m torn. It’s a used vehicle so I guess it’s a dice roll regardless. Any advice?

I can understand that, based on where you live. You may have to widen your search area, if possible.
