Do I have a dropped pitman arm and a double brace track bar?

Those rods stabilize the dropped mount ...lowered mounts suffer from track bar leverage and tend to move...trust me.
 
That whole lift is interesting. It seems the dropped pitman arm and the dropped track bar mount do a decent job at keeping the drag link and the trackbar parallel. I guess the two braces are to keep the dropped track bar mount from bending or breaking off for some reason.

And two seconds before I hit "POST REPLY" AndyG maked me feel good about what I guessed.

Travel looks to be 3”. Stiff springs?

The rear bump stops are stock. No extension. The shocks are acting as the bump stop.

How hard did you try? :)

If the shocks are not stopping the travel, then what is? It isn't the bump stops, from what I can see.
I drove my normal work route, complete with speed bumps. Not sure anything is hitting...
 
A guy I work with put a bigger sway bar on his LJ. It is quite a bit thicker than stock. If it has an aftermarket swaybar, maybe that is limiting flex?

The factory rear is soft enough to allow for full articulation with 12" travel shocks. For mine with that setup, I wouldn't mind running a slightly stiffer rear and also tighten up the font Antirock.
 
Good question. It has minor steering issues. The larger problem is a harsh ride and old components. I’m evaluating what needs to be addressed first. I have been reading that a dropped pitman arm is to be avoided.

To me the rear springs look like dual rate springs installed upside down.

Apparently thats not an issue when it comes to harsh ride?
 
You generally see the tighter coils placed to the top so it looked odd to me.
So why are they installed upside down?
(Which would lead this sleuth to look for other things not done properly)
 
Thoughts on why travel might be limited? Bind in the system somewhere? Again, no interference I can see.
