The douchebag of the day thread

Must drive a JKU rubicon with the newest fad!View attachment 98488
That’s about how thick the sidewalls are on the damn trucks around here with the 24’s that stick out 14” from the side of the fender. There is a young girl around here that has reversed 24x14s and is using spacers on top of that. There is literally only about 1” of tire still under her fender.

Probably right Blaine 😎
I tend to respect all the efforts enthusiasts put into their vehicles regardless of the vehicle, style, or discipline. You can build one hell of a nice rig for the money that guy put into the blue truck above. So they spend money just like we do. Lifted, lowered, bagged, hydro, import, domestic, fast, slow, doesn't matter to me. If you have a hobby and or lifestyle you pursue in kind with similar minded folks and that makes you happy, go for it. We are all doing the exact same thing, just using a different brush to paint our ideas on the world. I don't know how that makes anyone a douchebag.

Just call the troopers about her throwning shit and cracking your windshield, then make a claim on her insurance. Fix it ticket and increased rates.

illegal modifications that affect safety, blinding headlights just to start. But I work nights so I see it more than a lot who are in bed before it is dark.

They do make fender flares that cover the wheels, no excuse just because you rock crawl.
Being lifted doesn't make them a rock crawler. The flare has to extend down past the back of the tire or you have to run mud flaps.

Think about what you just said. You see it because you work nights, when do the illegal fucks work then? During the day? If they are working during the day, why aren't they in bed before dark like the rest of us who work during the day? It isn't like the rest of us don't drive after dark, is it?

This was the way it used to be in Pennsylvania, but it doesn't seem to be enforced much anymore. I had to run flaps on my old XJ as some trooper went nuts on me. Honestly throwing a bunch of crap from your tires on other vehicles behind you is dangerous especially motorcycles. Even behind my Jeep with a 2" lift most of the tire is exposed and throwing a roster-tail in rain. I try and be careful not to spray people behind me.

Like I said, if you are going to enforce that law on lifted rigs around here, that is a full time job for several troopers. I've had several rocks from tires take out my windshields over the years. Not one has been from a lifted rig with uncovered tires.

I run removable splash guards on the back of my LJ because its the law. Its very seldom enforced but I don't want them to have an excuse to stop me for a chat. Maybe they help with water slash but I don't think they do shit to prevent rock tossing. That happens at or very close to the point where the tire meets the road.

Ya'll keep wanting to go there but it won't go like you think it will. I explained my position above, fairly clearly. None of those examples make the owners douchebags any more than the way we modify our rigs does to make us douchebags. It would be a very rare rig on here that I can't pick apart based on my own particular sensibilities. The reason that I rarely do is because we each should have the right to bring our own ideas of what makes us happy into fruition and as an expression of that be allowed to enjoy the process and results without criticism from others. It is hypocritical to want that for yourself and not allow it in others.

I agree 100%,,but,,,picking apart peoples rigs is akin to criticizing people's fashion choices, or a film critic picking apart a movie :)

lets not take this thread too seriously :)

and what a shame to do that to a nice Mercedes!

In context, it is only the same if a film critic picks apart a film done by another film critic, or a fashion designer picking apart another fashion designer's work. Labeling other automotive enthusiasts as douchebags if you are also an automotive enthusiast is where the hypocrisy is.

I was unaware that being called a douchebag was purely in jest.

Says some enthusiast somewhere about taking a perfectly nice stock Rubicon and dragging it across the rocks. What a shame.
