I need yore help with this sitiation to understand what went rong. I waz sittin fishin on the Kentuck side of the river joost down from Henderson. I wuz gittin low on beer and tinkin of gettin in my CJ when I hears a guy a yellin at me from the Hoosier side. He asks hows fishin and I tell 'em not so good - im a runnin low on beer. He's right quiet a bit and yells back to come on over- he's got a plenty. Man- that gets me a goin cause I'ma thinkin he got some long neck Blatz or Oertels 92 over there (or leastn PBR). Then I 'member there aint no bridge ceptin the RR bridge upstream. So I's yell back at him my predictament. After a bit he says no problem- he'll turn his YJ to face the river and turn on his lights den I can drive 'cross the beams. Well- knowen dem YJ head lights are square I wuz thinkin that makes sinse. But den doubt set in- so's I yell for em to turn on da high beams so's i wood be higher above da water. He sas no prob- come on da beers a gittin warm. Now ya know we don normally trust dem northerners especially Hoosiers but I thought dis guy wuz ok causin he had a jeep and beer. I start drivin down the bank real fast cause ifn you ever been on KY bridges ya no to go fast lest they be a breakin down behin u. Woodnt u no it- just as I hit da river bank he switched his beams to low and into da river i wen. Now i is so lost causin I can't afford 1 of deem new fangled TJ

What wen rong ere?
did I forget to wave? did his beam switch fail? you spose I had 1 too many? Steerin fail on my ole CJ? Meebe i shud stik to james beam?

Dear Sir,
Well, I saw it coming .. you can't trust a YJ owner further than you can tow him.
I knew he was going to do that.. we used to turn the flashlight off on Auburn fans when they were sliding down the beam to get off the roof at night.
Next time, keep your lights on and be in 4-wheel drive. .. then if he shuts his lights off at least your front tires will grab .

I am a new TJ owner. Its a "X"(treame) model with a Dana 35 and 3.07 gears. My questions are as follows. How big of a lift can I get on a budget of about 300$ using used and or mix matched suspension components from other vehicles and clear 35s? When I have my bastardized lift and 35s how do I maintain any speed over 55, will a cold air intake help? How can I improve the gas mileage running 35s, again will a cold air intake help? Will a Rough Country steering stabilizer eliminate the vibrations in my front end when I am going over 50? And finally what is the cheapest light bar on amazon that you guys run? I wont actually wire it in, I just want it for looks and "cred".

I've been really considering removing my factory fender flares and possibly the hard top and repainting them with black raptor liner. I like the idea of the tough black finish, but I'm worried I'll be crossing the line and heading into bro-dozer territory. The last thing I want to do is get inspired by angry grills and chrome wheels.

Well it appears you have quite a build planned .

Some spring spacers should get you the lift you need... And since you aren't going to wire in the light doesn't need to be operable so you should be able to get a takeoff pretty cheap... To keep your speed up I suggest you only travel downhill.

This question reminds me of the Blair Witch Project movie .... They said they made it with a video camera and $10,000 ... I wanted to know what happened to the other 9700.00 bucks .

As a member in good standing of the Forum aftermarket modifications panel, your question presents a number of problems...

First you have an LJ Rubicon that is absolutely fantastic... And we find it very hard to condone modifications to the chassis...

If I were going to do what you're suggesting I would get an extra set of Fender Flares and do that and store the original... On the hardtop... I would want to see one before I made that move.

Remember... You may be driving Tennessee's finest example of a stock LJ Rubicon... People are watching.
