I have never owned one nor do I know how to use one. I hate complicated apps since I am a upper middle aged dog that cant stand learning new tricks ( not un willing just hate it)
I think I should have one to start seld diagnosing problems.

What is the recommended reader for a Dummy like myself. Would like to Amazon one today.

x2 what Chris recommended. Those small Launch code readers do everything you would need it to do. You don't get worthy functionality out of higher end code readers until you get closer to $1000.

Order placed. Thanks for the recommendation

I second the bluedriver. Works great on more modern cars as well.

Been using this one for 10 years now:

Works like a charm, super easy to use, color screen, and a great value for the price. I use it on my TJ and all our other cars as well.
Hi Chris , is this the scan tool that you still recommend? If so let me know . Tj is still in surgery ,should be out next week ,pictures to follow . My Tj is not as nice as the majority but is ours to enjoy . Hope that all is well for you and yours ,moon eyes

I'm still using mine almost 10 years later, it works great for me (y)

So yes, I would recommend it personally.
