American Racing Headers Long Tube Headers for the Jeep Wrangler TJ 4.0

There’s enough clearance by the oil pan to fabricate something if I take it to a muffler shop.
Is it possible the bend in the header is not correct and should be laid over more towards the block? Maybe contact ARH and let them know what you have run into.

I noticed on another set of the ARH headers. The union of the collector and pipe have the clamps you have.

What was the turn around time from purchase to delivery?

I re-emailed Nick at ARH and he responded very quick. They redesigned it recently, and this may be a fluke. It IS designed around a stock TJ and he will stand behind it and make it right.

Makes me glad I got mine just a few weeks ago. I assume it’s the latest version.

I had seen some posts of people saying they ordered it, so I got in a few days before they made the production run.

Mine took about a month to get from the time I ordered them.

There is so much variation TJ to TJ, assuming yours is otherwise stock (iirc you said it was) I would wonder if they're accounting for that variation...

He was telling me how Golen has been running their 4.0 long tube headers on their engines for a while now and been doing dynos with them. On supercharged engines they were making upwards of 35hp, while on stock engines they were getting around 20hp.

Some of the features of the headers are:
  • Gains of 20 RWHP (or more with Cold Air Intake pre-installed)
  • Guaranteed to NEVER crack
With some of the 20rwhp gains they are seeing on stock 4.0s, these headers shouldn't be overlooked.

Did you ask Nick what extra horsepower gains he was getting with a cold air intake?

Surely he knows that a cold air intake does "absolutely nothing" for a stock 4.0. Right, Chris? ;)

Those headers have serious fitment issues. It's a good thing it will only take them a MONTH to get a replacement out.

You're right Rick, anyone who has been around TJs long enough knows that an air intake does absolutely nothing on a stock 4.0

This forum doesn't need another troll. Go back to your day job.

Does it make a difference with headers then?

Not sure, until I see dyno numbers I wouldn't be able to tell you.

An engine is a big air pump. You can let more air in to make more power, but you can't just open one portion of the air intake path, you need to open the entire thing. Add an air intake with a ported head, big valves, ported intake manifold, and headers, and then you'd see some serious power gains coupled with a good tune. But again, you're opening up the entire air intake path.

When speaking with others, they all agreed that the biggest gain will be from the headers coupled with a tune, which I have no doubt. My FRP tune completely transformed the way my 4.0 drives, it's absolutely night and day.

Of course given how restrictive the stock exhaust manifold is, I suspect that the headers will increase that potential for power gains even more.

My TJ already has a cone filter intake on it which is due to having GenRight fenders, which unfortunately do not leave room for the factory airbox.

That being said, I'll have no way of comparing the difference since I'm stuck with my "cold air intake" whether I like it or not.

AngerBoy spell out that response for you Chris ?

I'm just laughing over Blaine's dealing with Canadians. So far almost everyone he seems to get into it with happens to be from Canada. I'm not sure why that is, but it's amusing to say the least.

One Canadian doesn't believe in re-gearing, and the other one doesn't believe in dropping the skid plate to change the exhaust. What are they putting in the maple syrup up there? ;)
