Which SYE

Got a question on flipping the rear shocks...what do you do about the bar pins in the rear? Those usually don't come out easily and without tearing the bushing up. Just curious.
I've never torn up a bushing pressing the bar pin out. Good quality shocks use bushings that are separate from the bar pin. A bench vise makes pressing the pin out of the bushing an easy job.

Never tried to push a bar pin out and I was curious. So you just press the bar pin out of the upper end and then press it into the lower end, flip the shock, and install? Sounds like a good afternoon project if you need to do that. I may play with that and see what happens.

i just got off the phone with Ryan at Northridge 4x4 and he said start with the sye and cv first then after removing the transfer case lowering kit you still have vibs to put a motor mount lift on and it will get rid of the vibs for sure.
my question to you is do you have to do a 1" body lift in order to do a motor mount lift.

Humm, Interesting...
I will not like to spoke with Rayn about this for sure, SYE install avoid the need of the TC drop and MML. After SYE install only you need your axle pinion angle properly set.

MML can be installed without have BL. I have this done on the past.
If decide to go with MML, be ready to have a blast with the driver side mount. Be aware that you need to raise the Fan shroud one inch and possibly modify.

Super short SYE.
Now you guys just flip my brain. I'm currently looking at this too as part of the planning for the tummy tuck to the LJ.
Definitely following.
LJ's are a lot more forgiving when it comes to driveshaft angles because of the longer wheelbase. My cousin has a 5.5" l and the TCase skid it has is not a full tummy tuck but a lot more clearance than the OEM skid. He is using the standard SYE and no vibes at all.

IF , the jb conversion super short and the advanced adapters hd were the same price whouldnt you go with the JB conversion's SYE? mainly because it will let you install a longer drive shaft? I realize our speedometer will be off a little but we can adjust our foot.

I had a 3", 5.5", then a 4.5" suspension lift on my previous TJ. Never any vibrations from its standard length SYE and CV driveshaft. Personally, I'd go with the standard length just to keep the free and butt-simple speedometer gear method of speedometer calibration. WIthout vibrations with the standard length CV shaft with any of those suspension lift heights I had before, I'm trying to figure out if a longer CV driveshaft could give a benefit like creating fewer than zero vibrations.

Do you have plans for a much taller lift plus a tummy tuck?

I really do not have plans for a taller suspension lift. if anything, i might do a 1" body lift someday but no plane anytime soon. and no tummy tuck.
if i were to get a body lift would that allow me to get a shallower pan on the bottom ??

No. I have a 1"MM and no BL and no vibes. I did it to get rid of my TC drop after a 2.5" OME suspension lift. Wasn't sure at the time if I'd do a BL. Now I'm thinking I will and go ahead and do the Novak or Savvy TCase shifter as well as SYE and double Cardan with 33's. Why do tires look smaller after awhile? LOL. As long as you rotate that pinion angle you shouldn't need a MML.

Well, your tires wear the more you drive, so technically, they do get smaller, lol!

Hey, when will yours be complete? Id like to know what the outcome is as far as vibrations go and also when you roll the pinion up to point at the output shaft of the transfer case how close did your shocks come to hitting your spring holders? or did you put the spring perch extenders from Currie on to relocate the shocks?

Should have the SYE done tomorrow and back in the jeep. Need a few days to order a new rear DS, then we shall see.

Can't argue with that. LOL!

I guess you'll be making final decision on skid after that, eh? Then you can rotate that pinion and get all the clearance you always wanted...Sounds EXCITING (stealing your word there from another day!)

Lol! I'll just be glad to lose an inch of belly fat since I'll be able to remove my TC drop. Gonna take me some time to recover $$$ before I can think about a Skinnier trany skid. When I do, it'll probably be a modest tuck. I'm sticking to my guns with no body lift.

While I could see that with a 2" or 3" BL, there's absolutely nothing wrong with installing a 1" BL.

If I needed 4" of clearance for tires, I'd much rather achieve that with a 3" suspension lift and a 1" body lift. Fewer angle problems and a lower center-of-gravity than if you installed a 4" suspension lift. :)

I agree Jerry, it's just my personal preference. I just don't like seeing daylight between my body and frame. A BL has many pluses, I just choose to compromise and get where I want without one. One day, I may change my mind, but until then, no body lift.
