I have been looking into my options and as of a few months ago, it appeared to me that GenRight was the only option. I heard rumors that Motobilt was working on a tank but I could not get them to verify. However, I just saw that they finally dropped the announcement that the tank is out. And then I found another tank made by PureJeep, which I had never seen before. All that being said, I'll most likely be buying the Motobilt one because I trust Dan DuBose and know that he puts out a quality product. I know that Genright makes rd products as well but cost wise, they are through the roof, although admittedly they DO offer multiple different options (tank capacities, axle clearance, etc.).

Anyhow, in case anyone is looking for the options, here are the three tanks and their prices:

Motobilt - $899 (14,5 Gallons)

PureJeep - $1,099 (19 Gallons)

Genright (Alien Crawler) - $1,499.99 (15 Gallon)

Anyone have thoughts on these options? I'm assuming that nobody has purchased and installed a Motobilt tank yet...

Motobilt just released theirs, naturally no one here has one yet. They only offer it with a steel skid. Genright has been doing it a little longer and recently re designed their Alien tank, which offers the absolute most stretch. Genright also offers aluminum skids, my vote goes to Genright.

Right, I see the AL skid plate but I really don't see the big advantage of AL over steel for the gas skid. But the one thing that Genright DOES have that I would like is the added fuel capacity in the Crawler EXT tank, but that is $1,600 as opposed to the $900 Motobilt option. I was only planning to stretch my wheelbase 3-4"s so I really don't need a tank that allows for a 6" stretch. I'll probably go with the Motobilt option. Every penny counts. Maybe I'll spend the savings on coilovers.

Regardless, its good to have options. I really hated that Genright was the only option.

The weight savings with aluminum is signifigant.

I have two GenRight strecth tanks that are the exact same model. One has a steel skid and one has the aluminum skid, I could almost pick up the aluminum skid and tank combo with one hand. Cant say the same about the steel skid combo. Although I do not have specific numbers on a scale comparing the two.

Right, I get that there is a weight difference but how important is that really? I'm not racing my Jeep. And if you have two, want to sell and ship one to me? :)

Weight savings is important for more than racing. Helps with climbing and fuel efficiency as well. Maybe one aluminum part won’t make a significant impact but maintaining the aluminum theme over the course of 10 parts? You’ll probably see a benefit there.

While I am glad to see competition out there for GenRight the MotoBilt unit isn't large enough for me. I want/need 19 gallons or more so I'm still back to GR or PJ. I've still got to crawl underneath and do some measuring to see if I can fit a tank under mine.

The other issue I see with the PureJeep tank is that they are claiming a 5" stretch with a Dana 44 and only a 4" with a Dana 60. I doubt it would fit my HP60 so now I'm back to only GR. I'd like measurements from PJ on the dimensions of their tank to know if it would fit/work.

Thanks for that video, Wildman. Was fun to watch. I get the point about the weight (I am running AL links, forged AL Beadlocks, soft-top, etc) but I guess that I'm not willing to go all-in on Aluminum to save a little more weight. And seeing as weight is such an important topic for off-road trucks, I'm a little surprised that none of the manufacturers publish the weight of their tanks :ROFLMAO:

Yep well I'm almost ALL steel on my armor, wheels, skid plate & a HEAVY as transfer case. So I really have embraced the go lite moto.

Let us know how you like the new stretch tank.

Got the tank on Thursday. Immediately took all of the steel to the powdercoater to get them coated. Here's the tank. Looks beautiful. Should have the parts back from powder coat this week, along with my new, longer AL links. Should have it all together by end of next weekend. Will post pics as I progress.

Been looking at this one - I may need to give MB a call and see if it’s compatible with the 05-06 emissions setup...

That does look like a nice tank. I have always been happy with the products I have purchased from MB. I'm glad to see they stepped into the tank market.

I did notice however that GR came out with a cheaper alternative stretch tank. The Crawler Comp20 shows a retail of $999.
