Well, if the Black Max's work out for you, you can mount them either way for added clearance.
Can the Rancho RS5000x shocks be run can up in the rear?

Extra clearance, plus the shock body won't get beat up from a gravel road I travel on!
That's a good thing if they can be mounted either direction, I was disappointed to learn my RS5000x shocks couldn't be mounted upside down in the rear.
That was a requirement I was looking for. I'm expecting these to be a very soft ride. The question is going to be how soft are they? I've had Zone, OME, and Bilstein shocks in the past, with my favorite being the softer Zone shocks.
My RS5000x shocks reminded me of the ride and control my previous OME Nitrocharger shocks gave.
X2 for me, as I ran the 1st gen OME Nitros for 10 years. I plum wore them out till they puked!
I'd buy another set of them if they still made them, it was a great shock.
Same here. I switched back to the Zone shocks from the Rancho.

Just slightly stiffer on the little bumps on the street than the Zone shocks. Much better on the big stuff and offroad though. I just can't win.
I messaged Rancho about this a couple years ago and they definitively said that they cannot be flipped.

Driven mostly by the fact that their compressed and extended lengths are good match for my needs, I pulled the trigger on a set of Black Max shocks. Based on what I've been told, these can also be run can up or down. I'll find out for sure once they are received and installed!
