I f the FCC ever pulls their head out of their butt, the license fee is supposed to drop to $35 for 10 years.
Don't be a sad hamand not legal to transmit on GMRS frequencies.
I know, that does sound kind of sad, lol!Don't be a sad ham
I listen in to NotARubicon's repeaters in your area via the Zello app. Cool tech!Anyone in the inland empire is welcome to PM me for my tones and freqs. It’s a high level repeater that covers upland to corona and chino hills to riverside. I can open it on a few spots up on gold mountain in big bear.
Too bad NotARubicon doesn't show up here anymore.I listen in to NotARubicon's repeaters in your area via the Zello app. Cool tech!
Look in your playstore on your phone. You install it, sign up, then search for NotARubicon. He uses a KG905G and some other tech to hook up to a laptop and the internet. You can listen in to 3 repeaters that are linked up. You can also transmit to said repeaters if you have a gmrs license and request trust permission from the Moderators of the repeaters. It doesn't really serve a whole lot of purpose other than entertainment factor. What is the zello app? How does it link up?
He said something about a dickhead and hasn't been seen since, "Don't be a dickhead."Too bad NotARubicon doesn't show up here anymore.

Did you also buy their mount? What antenna did you go with?Like mine a lot but I haven’t tried any others either.
used the small bracket that it came with as the mount. But, I also run it with their intercom system and it all works very well together.Did you also buy their mount? What antenna did you go with?
It's not really a hack. The UV-5R can very easily programmed to work on all the GMRS frequencies. There are files you can download to the radio and POOF, the radio has all of them. GMRS frequencies are within the ham bands, if you have a 70cm ham radio you can access them all with not a single trick or card up your sleeve.I've been convinced to just get a HAM license then crack a HAM radio to use both HAM and GMRS frequencies.
I already have UV5Rs. Im talking about mobile radios with more power and range. It's not really a hack. The UV-5R can very easily programmed to work on all the GMRS frequencies.
