Alright! I hear ya! What are your plans now that you sold your LJ?!

Rocking the Gladiator for now. As much as I would love to keep the LJ, I have some other priorities in life that need my attention and funds. I was hesitant to sell it because I wanted to make sure someone would take good care of it, but once Rich reached out to me, I knew it would go to a good home.

Probably the best home for an LJ on earth 🌎.

Now on the moon 🌙 , that’s questionable.

But you do need to change your signature now

I've known Jeff for a while and he is a first class guy. He has done some very, very nice work on the LJ, in areas I would not have focused. This is a huge plus for me! Frankly, the only reason I bought another Jeep is because of him. That said, the fact that the color isn't common, along with other stuff that will be detailed later, helped with the decision. The first step for me, before any building ideas formulate, is to get a detailed baseline assessment. Time is at a premium now, so I'll probably start capturing that in a third build thread over the next couple weeks.

So is the plan as mentioned before, to sell the current LJ?

The more I drive this thing the more I like it. That said, getting more seat time is making me think about adding some functional modernization. Is anyone running a HUD that ties into the OBD port? I'd especially like to better monitor the coolant temperature, speed, etc., at a raised level. Something potentially like these:

Interesting. I'm sure you've seen Torque on a phone before and are looking at these because you want something more permanent installed, right? I was going to say don't waste your money because your phone will do it, but for the price, those are pretty cool looking. Be aware they make higher end multi-gauges that combine OBD input with something else like a wide band O2 or temp input (like tranny temp?) or something. They aren't $50 though.

Yea, I'm not wanting to use my phone. Tranny temp isn't an issue, because I have a gauge already. The price looked reasonable on these, for what you get. Reliability is an unknown though.....

Just to show you what I was talking about:

For the HUD thing you posted, for $50 I think it's worth a shot to find out as long as you have a place you'd be happy mounting it. Bonus points for being able to swap it to your other rig if you wanted. Or for that price just buy 2 lol. One thing I'd at least keep in mind is while OBD2 is a "standard" protocol, there is also usually proprietary info that may or may not be able to be read by that particular reader i.e. OEM tranny temp info, ABS info, and other stuff like that. Considering the age of our jeeps though and what you want out of it, I think that'll likely be a non-issue for you. Does that thing have a way to interact with it to clear codes?

Am I crazy or did the price just go up?
It didn't change, there is a 15% discount at checkout. Makes it $50.99. Also,

"it’s a smart OBD2 gauge for car owners to quickly read and erase DTC (engine fault codes) and check Live Data Stream"

What I'm not sure of is where I would put it.

At his point I'm looking at other options....so much confusion! o_O

Its funny you bring this up. I was just thinking about how I could permanently mount one of my old phones to the jeep so I can keep an eye on different things that are available with the reader. I have a couple S7's sitting around that work perfectly, especially plugged in. Screen area is an issue, but its also easier to place a cell phone. Between Torque and On x Offroad, I really need some sort of "computer" in the jeep.
