Big-time bumpsteer!

Follow the advise of @mrblaine and @JAYNE have been saying/enforcing. Don't just shotgun parts at it because someone has been preached to about the faults of a certain part.

Replace everything that you find that is worn or damaged. Fix the wear items, look for loose items.

Also, look at the front control arms... I see there's poly bushings in them, are they worn out or damaged?

Blaine posted that it’s close enough that the track bar relationship (from drop bracket) and drag link (from the DPA) won’t cause the shit steer bring described.

You’re saying that your facts disagree, that’s the whole issue would be that 3/8”?

That’s doesn’t make sense to me. Good luck to the OP, you’ve now lead him to have to cut off that bracket which looks like a total PITA, to test this theory, which you’re calling facts.

I sure hope you’re facts fix this problem, that’s a big crappy effort to find out it didn’t matter and the issues are still there, which it sounds like will be.

Check your math again. The track bar pivot is down 3/4" the pitman arm is down 2 3/8".

It isn't the solution to fix the O.P's problems,its part of the solution.

Cutting off brackets? You really don't understand his posts.

Again.....a trackbar drop of 1/2-3/4" doesn't necessitate a pitman arm drop of over 2".

I had an rc track bar with a bracket similar to that and a stock pitman arm. It didn't have noticable bumpsteer. What it did do was loosen all the time. I chucked it rather than weld it on,i run a currie now.

If it was my jeep i would cut that double sheer garbage off. But everyone has different skill levels

No that's not what he's saying. He's saying that the trackbar mount is fine the way it is. Basically all it's doing is allowing the trackbar end to be flipped on its side , barely dropping at all and the pitman arm should have been left factory.

Do this and report back.... take a long level (~2ft) On a level surface, line up the drag link connection at the DPA and center the bubble... measure from there to the Trackbar connection at the frame... what's the difference in height?

Your pictures do not show a significant difference, meaning that it will be significant if you go to a stock DPA.

The actual drop on the bracket is basically only the thickness of the 2 brackets. 1/2 in. at best. Basically the long end of that trackbar bracket could've been cut off before installing it for all that it's dropped. Overkill in my opinion. It's there none the less. It's going to be stock again except for the thickness of the steel from combing the brackets.

I strongly suggested he replace ball joints because ball joints can have significant wear yet be very difficult to tell. Not to mention during that job he can replace any other worn steering linkage at the same time.

Now what was that about shotgunning parts?

X2 Do this. It’s always possible that bracket hasn’t lowered the track bar as much as we are thinking… @Rickyd would be 100% correct in saying ditch the DPA if the track bar wasn’t actually lowered much. It looks to be fine but looks can be deceiving.

The very nature of the ball joints dictates that wear is very easy to find. It either has some amount of lateral play at the upper or it doesn't. If it does, replace it. Lower is just as easy. They are allowed to have roughly a fat 1/16" of vertical play before they are considered in need of replacement. Nothing difficult at all to see or find any of that.

I didn’t know that about the vertical play. Good to know!
I found it difficult to identify the lateral play in my ball joints. I could jack the front off the ground push and pull on the tire all I wanted and couldn't feel any play… be it because I wasn’t applying enough force or just because I couldn’t see the joints it wasn’t until I lowered the vehicle and did a steering test with a coworker at the wheel that I noticed the lateral play.

It is fine. It wasn't dropped any where near as much as the drop pitman arm. I ordered the factory Pitman arm and the tie rod that connects to it. That'll be changed next week.

On another note I have my alignment check results. Pretty good I think. He let me snap a picture of the screen. The printout was blurry.

I have aftermarket lower control arms front and back that probably came with the lift. Front Lowers have cam bolts that show room for increase caster. If I get new adjustable control arms should I need upper and lower adjustable or can I get by with only adjustable Lowers? Keep in mind this jeep is only going to see mild off road use.
