What did you do to your TJ today?

Ok, I know this question is going to make me sound like an idiot but that's never stopped me from asking before. Mainly just want to see if I'm missing the obvious.

Does my jeep not have a rear sway bar?

I'm away from my Jeep now, so I can't go look, but from what I remember, these are the stock mounting holes for the sway bar bushings in the rear, so you definitely don't have a sway bar that uses the stock mounting points (I don't see any other evidence of a sway bar in the other pics, either):

Correct, this is a Currie 60 that appears to have built in compatibility with the factory sway bar. My guess is the previous owner chose to not use one.

If you had a stock swaybar it would have to be flipped over and run under the dif, so no you don't have one. You'd see if you had an anti-rock, which I don't see tabs for.

O
The Jeep has had a slight RMS leak since I got it and since some here swear by conventional HM oil for leaks this went in this morning so we'll see what happens. I'm not at all convinced that synthetic oil dries seals or causes leaks so if the leak dries up the next oil change will be with HM synthetic.

That’s what I use & I don’t have any leaks. To be honest, it never did have any leaks & if only has 45,xxx miles, but it is 18 years old so I figure it sure couldn’t hurt.

Have you changed your valve cover gasket? I thought I had a rear main seal leaking until I changed my valve cover gasket.

High Mileage synthetics have very similar additive packages as the conventional high mileage oil.

Got my lift finished and my toe in set and steering wheel centered. YAY!! Had a HELL of a time getting the tie rod to break loose.

But......... when the 4x4 I used to gain floor jack lift slipped, it dented the oil pan in the area of the pick up. I don't THINK it will affect the pick up but I'm not going to assume. Found a good used oil pan close to me and the local NAPA has a Felpro gasket in stock. Guess what I'm doing this weekend.

Yes it has the preferred Felpro gasket, no leaks there.

No doubt about that. I'm just curious about running conventional oil again, I've run synthetic in everything for years. Synthetic is just ultra refined oil, it's not made from seaweed or a bunch of chemicals mixed together.

If you have a friend with a welder and a slide hammer you might save the existing pan without removing it?

I thought about that, it's pretty creased and I' d hate to go through that and and have it start leaking. I will take a closer look and give it more thought. Thanks for the suggestion.

If it makes you feel any better, I also dented my pan during the motor mount lift installation. That oil pan is the weakest oil pan I've experience with, and I probably won't use it to lift the motor again. The pickup was fine, and I did put a new oil pan on. Eventually (probably only after I need it), I plan to press the dent out (it didn't crease much) and have a good spare. Unfortunately, I think I pinched the gasket on the re-install because it had a very big leak at the rear by the crank journal arch. That was months ago, and I haven't yet got to fixing that...

It will help, but don't expect it to make a huge difference during the first oil change. I started running Valvoline 5w30 MaxLife synthetic in mine three oil changes ago, and it has significantly slowed down the leaking/weeping I had. My oil pan is dry on my Jeep. The first oil change with it I didn't notice much change.
