What did you do to your TJ today?

Back bacon - yum! You definitely eat better than most of us on this forum, Kiwi TJ.

Thanks but you don’t see the times when I only have dry bread and water to eat 😂😂
I do like my food 😛 it is a case of knowing where to shop to get the best deals …

I've only wheeled with them once so far but they held up just fine as you'd expect. Got a few good slams into them. My favorite part about them is the clean side, no steps or anything, although they do cut their logo into them. At least it's not the fugly poison spyder logo that looks like a shocked dracula in drag

Not a fan of the jcr logo either. One of the mods I'm doing. Welding yeah.

Removed the front mud flaps and nerf bars. Installed factory side steps. Ordered new tires.

Since I bought the TJ, the passenger side mirror would not stay put. It always just slipped out of place. After doing a google search, I learned about the 2 screws on the underside of the mirror. Yesterday I tightened them. (didn't turn much) Today id drove it awhile and it stayed in place. (f it starts sipping again, I'll just opt for 03-06 mirrors.

Been working on a cowl intake... Going the Ford route, but a bit different than normal with the supercharger placing the throttle body pointed towards the firewall. I'm running meth in boost but it still gets pretty hot out of boost. Not enough to be a real concern, but colder air is more efficient and when I roll onto the power and it starts spraying it'd be nice if everything is starting out 20 or 30 or whatever degrees it may be cooler than what it currently is.

Picked up an intake from an Econoline first. It's considerably bigger around, about 2" in diameter if I recall. Too big to fit under the hood without having to move a bunch of stuff and/or some complex bends to route the air back, I tried. The intake snout on the Econoline box is almost 3" in diameter.

Then I got a Windstar box. Considerably smaller, and the intake snout is only 2" or so. I'm not exactly sure, because the junkyard sent me everything but the snout. But with the snout removed, the plastic housing necks down to 2.25."

So, out came the dremel, RTV and rivet gun.

I cut a hole in the firewall to fit the 3" snout. The inlet end of both air boxes have the same angle taper, so I cut them both off and grafted the larger Econoline snout onto the windstar box. Then shortened the windstar box MAF sensor section.

Now it's 3" in from the cowl, and 4" out with the main center section of the paper filter being 3" as well. Hopefully this isn't too restrictive.

Ordered a 4" to 3" 90° elbow, two 3" elbows, and a 3" to 2-5/8" elbow to make the last bend into the throttle body. Waiting on the elbows and the 3" aluminum pipe.

So it'll come off the end of the housing, turn across and above the valve cover, run down the middle towards the firewall, then dip back down to behind the supercharger.

Should work. Better than the 2.5" warm air intake I had on there previously, anyway. Then I'll finish it all off with some tacky gold heat tape.

Best move you can make…

That’s what I ended up doing.

Had a good Jeep therapy day yesterday. Tightened up the steering damper. The nuts loosened up and it slid down towards the passenger tire. I was wondering why I was losing my turning radius. Easy fix. The bonus was that I found a leak. I will get back under the hood today and track that down.

Spent the rest of the day installing lights on my wife's JLU. Jeep prewired Aux switches which made it very easy. The longest part of the job was looming and securing the wires for safety and aesthetics. Very grateful for warmer weather.

A play by play(ish) of my dented oil pan replacement/repair:
It’s going very well…..too well🤷‍♂️ ALL of the exhaust fasteners have come out easily. Long extensions and a 15mm swivel socket are key to making this process easier. On to removing the O2 sensor and hopefully dropping the exhaust out of the way.

I didn’t get any responses to this thread:
Thread 'Dented oil pan/ pick up clearance'
https://wranglertjforum.com/threads/dented-oil-pan-pick-up-clearance.76813/

So I’m going ahead with it unless I hear some good news before I get to dropping the pan. Taking my sweet ass time.

@matkal :

I didn't reply to your other thread because I can't clearly remember how much clearance there is between the bottom of the pickup horn and the inside bottom of the pan. Mine did not damage the pickup that I could see. Here's a picture of how much mine was pushed in:

Oil Pan Dent.jpg

The deepest spot of the dent was at the center of the x (the rule is sitting centered on the drain bumpout.) The caliper was zeroed on the width of the rule used, so the 0.9115" displayed is from the bottom of the rule to the center of the x. As I said, this .9" dent did not damage the pickup. Not sure if this helps, but it was a quick 5-minute exercise for me.

AWESOME! THANK YOU! If I’m ever in DITHOT I’ll buy you a beer. Or a lot of beer. Or whiskey, etc.
