Should the multifunction switch harness look like this?

These both look right. https://www.extremeterrain.com/crown-automotive-multifunction-switch-harness-repair-kit-9706-tj.html https://www.amazon.com/Dorman-645-206-Pigtail-Connector-Function/dp/B06XPPQZ6Y?tag=wranglerorg-20

Should the multifunction switch harness look like this?

I’ve done many radios, but 20 butt connectors seems bulky and not ideal. The idea below sounds great, but my connector doesn’t seem quite as brittle, so breaking it apart might be too destructive. Maybe I’ll order the conductor and see how it looks. Thanks!

Should the multifunction switch harness look like this?

That’s really helpful. Thank you. Does anyone think the bad multifunction switch could be what caused the melting? I had suspected that it was causing a slow drain in the battery, even with the relay for the fog lights pulled.

Should the multifunction switch harness look like this?

Where does it lead? Meaning, am I replacing just the plug and reattaching every wire?

Should the multifunction switch harness look like this?

I finally got around to replacing the multifunction switch. My fog lights were on permanently, and I had to pull the relay until I replaced the switch. But it was cold, and I had other stuff to do; so I procrastinated until today. Anyway, it’s now fixed, and the fog lights work correctly. But...

Water rolls off the lifted hard top glass into the Jeep

I, for one, am made of sugar.

Water rolls off the lifted hard top glass into the Jeep

It turns out that this was a problem for someone else as well, and a little company solved it. They cut a piece of Cordura that's the length of the lliftgate glass, attach one side under the weather stripping on the Jeep and the other side to the top inside edge of the liftgate glass. The...

    Engine vibration from MML

A new MML (M.O.R.E. “Bombproof”) seems to have added some transfer of engine vibration. Background: The (manual) LJ has had a 4” RJ/Savvy suspension lift for about a year, without driveline vibrations. The (M.O.R.E.) 1” MML and (Savvy) 1.25” body lift were just added. The worn out OEM...

    Is trimming necessary?

I have an LJ on 35s with a 4” Savvy/Currie suspension lift and a 1.25” Savvy body lift, Ranchi RS5000x shocks, and 1.5” wheel spacers on factory 15” wheels with 35x12.5R15 KO2s. I haven’t yet put it on a ramp or taken it offroad since adding the tires and body lift. I do not plan to change out...

Tuffy Rear Security Drawer (the short one) in an LJ?

Has anyone installed the Tuffy security drawer — the one that's 4 inches tall and mounts the rear seat on top — in an LJ? I think it's meant for the SWB TJ, but that's not what I have...

SeaSucker jerry can mount for hard-top side window?

Has anyone used a SeaSucker mount for a jerry can (water) on the side window of the hard top? The SeaSucker mounts seem reliable. But I have no idea what amount of vertical force that window can take. Two gallons of water weighs about 17 pounds, which is a lot more than the pane of glass the...

    Roof Rack Without Drilling (LJ)

I’ve seen a lot of posts about roof racks, and I found a good solution that I haven’t seen posted. I need a roof rack because I can’t carry my wife and dog and camping gear all inside the vehicle on an offroad trip. For a while I just used roof bars and a rooftop bag, but it was difficult to...

Body lift with 4 inch suspension lift & 35s

My build is approaching its goal. (I’d say conclusion, but who are we kidding?) After my 4” Savvy/Currie lift (with an Antirock front sway bar), I added Revolution chromoly axle shafts, Spicer ball joints, Currie steering, ARB lockers, Dana gears, Vanco big brakes, and BFG 35s on 15” rims. Now...

Rack-mounted lights: How to route wires inside the cab?

I'm mounting a rack to the roof of my LJ's hard top without drilling (Surco crossbars & Yakima LocknLoad rack). I've run out of space for the gear required to camp (in a way that my wife finds tolerable), so the roof is the best option, and the total weight will be around 50-70 pounds As long...

How are the hood latches attached to the body?

For reasons passing understanding, I attempted to remove (temporarily) the hood latches from the body/fenders. The first nut was a bit seized, but it turned when I cranked on it. I wasn’t so lucky for the second. Now the bolt sort of spins. What holds the bolt in place, inside the hinge? It...

Water rolls off the lifted hard top glass into the Jeep

When it rains and I lift the hard top glass, water slides down the glass into the Jeep. Usually it ends up in the corner and in the plastic wiper cover. I’ve checked the weather stripping, and it seems fine. (I bought new weather stripping and compared them side-by-side.) This has always been a...

Cleaning mud from the engine bay

After some unexpectedly deep mud holes on this last weekend’s offroad trip, I’ve got mud everywhere. I’m cleaning by hand the electronics I’ve added. Is it safe to spray anything with a hose? Is there a good way to avoid some of this splash in the future? The electronics on the driver’s wheel...

    Mounting camp lights

I’d like to add a low-closet LED light or two to light up camp (so I don’t have to drag out some tripod thing). I’m not sure if I’ll run them from the Jeep battery directly or from a aux mattery. Has anyone found a good place to mount camp lights on the Jeep, either temporarily or...

ARB twin compressor: Is a manifold required for inflation?

I have installed the ARB twin compressor, which I am using only for tire inflation. I read in one installation guide (https://arbusa.com/arb-twin-compressor-installation/) that either a manifold *or* a remote coupling is required for tire inflation. Then I read in another installation guide...
