    Resto-mod the Rubicon

That's what I'm going for. I want to future-proof it as much as makes sense and upgrade some bits with modern luxuries, like Android Auto. It already has the Dana 44 front and rear, already has the SYE. The TJ has an iconic shape, IMHO, and I think it's still the best looking. So, I'd like...

Fun times with tires! (I got lucky)

The KO3s are out and the closest they come to the stock size is that LT265/75R16. I'd like to get those, but I'm concerned about rubbing and clearance on a stock Rubicon.

    Resto-mod the Rubicon

For a while, I'd been thinking about selling my 06 Rubicon and getting a new Jeep. New vehicle, new engine, new transmission, factory warranty, etc. But the price of a new Rubicon 2-Door is ridiculous. We're talking about $700-900 depending on options per month. So, now I'm considering...

Fun times with tires! (I got lucky)

And they won't rub on a stock-height Rubicon suspension?

Fun times with tires! (I got lucky)

Can you run LT265/75R16 tires on the wheels I have?

Fun times with tires! (I got lucky)

Looks like I ordered them March 6th, 2019.

Fun times with tires! (I got lucky)

Well, I was going around city corners and some informal googling said running KO2s at 10PSI is about the limit - so seeing I was at 6, I considered myself lucky I didn't unseat the tire from the rim going around corners.

Fun times with tires! (I got lucky)

Yesterday, I noticed what sounded like a rotational rattle coming from the back end of my Jeep. I initially though it was some ice or the like stuck to a part of the frame since we're in the teens with temperatures now and had quite a lot of snow last weekend. I noticed it got worse with...

    Time to replace?

Was looking at the Jeep the other day and noticed rust on the lower control arms (is that what they're called?), so I grabbed some pics. Look like the surface coating is wearing off and they're rusting. Figure it's time to replace them...

    I finally got an Eagle!

IT FINALLY HAPPENED!!! I was driving to near Newcastle up on WY-450 when I saw a dead rabbit on the road. I thought to myself, "Poor bunny - great for a raptor if we had one...". On the way back to Douglas, I passed that spot and by sheer luck, there was a Bald Eagle! I drove past it...

Grand Junction Air Show Oct 14 & 15

Anyone going? Just booked my hotel in Fruita for it. https://www.visitgrandjunction.com/blog/grand-junction-air-show Two days, 9-5. Blue Angels and an F4U-7 Corsair aerial display. Going to be bringing my camera gear and probably driving my TJ - depending on weather. Google Maps has me...

What all do I need to do to upgrade a stock 06 Automatic Rubicon to 35"?

Want to put together a list of all the bits-and-bobs, along with anything that would be good to do while all the bits-and-bobs are off and offering access, that I would need to upgrade to 35" tires. What I can think of off the top of my head is: 35" tires (duh - but can I use the wheels I...

    Outlaw Cave, Kaycee Wyoming

I've lived in Wyoming nearly 3 years and I've decided I've not been to enough of the state yet. So I've resolved to visit someplace new one weekend every month. This month I decided to go to Outlaw Cave west of Kaycee, WY. I also took my camera with me so I could grab some pics because...

    Today is the day!

My TJ is now paid off and I own it outright. :) Can't believe it's been 5 years almost (I paid it off 4 payments early) since my brother and I flew down to Dallas to buy it and drive it home on Spring Break. Pic my brother took of me when we picked it up.

    Goodbye, Pap

Last night, Lovell Sampson decided that after nearly 98 years on this Earth, it was his time and passed away peacefully in his sleep. Pap was a WWII Veteran of the Pacific Theater, a father, a grandfather, and great grandfather. One of the hardest working and toughest men I've ever met, he...

Well folks, I'm considering selling the TJ

Pretty soon, my TJ will be paid off. Woo-hoo! But she is a 2006 and isn't getting any younger. Parts are getting harder to find - like that heater core I still haven't bothered to get installed. So, I went to a dealer today and talked to them about a 2023 2 Door Rubicon (in blue) that I...

    Grassland Christmas Eve

Went out on the Grassland to take some pics and see what my new-to-me camera can do! (Sony A7R IVa and Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 Art lens) https://www.flickr.com/photos/cybrslydr/albums/72177720304703612/with/52584336538/ I tried to visualize the kind of shot I wanted and then an attempt to frame...
