New to TJ's, would love some help

Hello all, New to the forum, new to TJ's, made the switch from a long-term relationship with XJ's and finally decided it was time. I found this jeep and immediately called on it and ended up bringing it home. So a few things that I have to deal with are: Tcase drop and no SYE Dana 30 LP...

Questions about JK Dana 44 axle swap into TJ

Why the heck are Dana 44's so much cheaper (Rubicon or not) off of JK's?! Been looking for some Dana 44's for a bit now, had a lot of bad luck (couple people kinda screwed me, others someone else just barely beat me to the punch) but I'm constantly seeing JK 44's posted and for 1/3-1/2 the price of...

Looking for owner of this 2001 Jeep Wrangler

Just bought this Jeep today, wanted to see if I could find the previous owner. It looks like it needs a new rear axle or just axle housing. I think it has a G2 Core 44 rear axle. Where's a good place to buy the axle or parts for it. This is my first Jeep, any info will be appreciated. Thanks

On the hunt for new rear axle in 98 TJ

My dana35 rear diff, pinions, and bearings are all shot in my 98 sahara. To rebuild the axle the parts cost would be roughly 1400 not including labor. I don't think its worth it to put that much into the Dana 35, so I'm looking at swapping it for a Dana 44 or 8.8. What is my best option considering it...

What mods are required to fit a Dana 44 from an XJ into a TJ?

Like the post says. What mods are required to fit a Dana 44 from an XJ into a TJ? Also what years are the best to start with?

    Good/Bad/Ugly Price for Rubicon Axles?

Hello all! I sometimes browse Craigslist for any used Jeep parts I might be inclined to add to my TJ for "cool factor" :afro: Yesterday I found a rolled Rubi LJ with 96,000 at a wrecking yard. He still has both the Dana 44s and wants 4k for the set and said he would throw in the compressors for...

Is this a Dana 44 rear axle?

This axle is on a 2004 Columbia Edition, I'm new to Jeepdom and can't quite tell if this is a 44 or 35. I can pick this Jeep up for $10k. Here are the specs... 162k miles automatic Repainted 4-5 years ago. 3 tops - Hard, soft, bikini. New stereo. Barricade front bumper. Brand new never been...

    Is this normal Dana 44

Hey all, I changed the oil in my Dana 44 yesterday for the first time. The Jeep has 125,000 miles on it and not sure of the PO's upkeep on it. The oil had millions of sparkles in it. Didn't see any large pieces and I havent noticed anything strange while driving. On the inside of the cover I did...

    My XJ Dana 44 build

The Dana 35 in my TJ is starting to wear out so I started to look into replacement options before it blows up. I did some research on the forums and had decided a Ford 8.8 from an Explorer would be a good swap. I figured 8.8's are easy to find, cheapish to buy and have tons of aftermarket support...

How to identify axles on a Jeep Wrangler TJ (and what the difference is with each axle)

I'm surprised an article like this didn't already exist on the site, especially given the number of people who ask how to identify which axles they have on their Jeep Wrangler TJ. The goal here is to give future TJ owners and new TJ owners a guide on how to identify which axles they have under...

Dana 44 swap: will drum brakes from Dana 35 work?

Looking at a used Dana 44 to swap into my 1998 TJ. The 44 is from a 2004 and was equipped with disc brakes. However it doesn't look like any of the brake parts come with the axle. My question is will the drum brakes from my current Dana 35C fit on the disc brake 44. I have found info that...

Theories why the Rubicon went with D44s vs upgraded Dana 30/35?

Like the title says. Any theories? It would be exceptional if legitimate proof was provided. Ex being; engineers write up or something similar. But theories are welcome. A lot on here about how the TJ 44 isn't worth the swap (expense:strength return) which I agree with considering only gen 1's...

    Ford 8.8 Axle Swap

The factory Dana 35 rear axle found in most TJ Wranglers is a little on the light side, and if you run larger-than-stock tires, you’re likely looking at an eventual failure. If you want to turn really big tires, wheel abusively, or push gobs of power into your rear axle, you’ll probably want to...

    Dana 44 & 50

hey guys i have a couple spare axles laying around and thought someone else may be able to use them. i just want to get rid of them now so i'll let them go for $120 a piece preferably to a local buyer (Bozeman MT) so i dont need to deal with shipping but if you're willing to pay shipping i can...

    Ring and pinion

So just as rcv makes pretty much bulletproof shafts for front diffs is there a company out there as of yet that makes abnormaly beefy gearsets for differentials? I realize this may sound stupid but its a legitimate thought i had. Why hasnt a company made gears out of some of these modern...
